Hello, when I enable my NumLock I can't write some letters, then it will instead of writing: L or O it will write 3 or 6. And I need to have numlock on when I am playing games because I have spells and other actions binded to these numlock numbers, but then I can't write ingame either. (World of Warcraft) I have an Acer Aspire 5730ZG laptop. Regards, me. :-)

Your question is a little confusing but I'm thinking this is a simple solution. On any computer that does not have a keypad on the side, you can only use the letters or the numbers by selecting the number lock key and can only switch between the two by pressing the "NUM LOCK" key each time. If your game requires you to go between the two quickly, then I would suggest buying an external "FULL" size keyboard and use that for your game. You can also buy an external number keypad for your laptop. This should solve your problem.

Hi, If on the game options haven't got the option to chance actions to different keys, then there is only one thing you can do. Keep changing between NumLock and Keys. Its quick anyway. Hope this help. Thanks for reading.

Just set up my brand new hp laptop ,password e.c.t. But now it won't except my password ,so now I can't open it at all.

Check to make sure that you haven't accidentally enabled either the numlock or CapsLock keys before trying to enter your password. (or they were enabled when you first entered the password!) Passwords are case sensitive. Some keyboards have alternative number entry defaults when the numlock key is active, so when you go to type letters, if the numlock key is active, you get numbers instead.

You may be able to reset the password from the HP recovery partition. Check your manual on how to enter the recovery partition. If you can get to another PC, here are some tips for recovering the password on HP laptops.... forgot my password for my hp laptop

How on earth can I get my computer, to stop writing numbers with every letter in the middle row of my keyboard? l9ik8e it's2 d3oing5 now a1s2d3f4g5h6j7k8l9. Pretty sure it's not a numlock thin

what is going on with your keyboard is it is in the Fn mode that is usually used for math. You need to find out what is the correct way to reverse this mode, sometimes i find it easy to google the fn key functions and you put in what type of computer you have and then you usualy will get your answer. There is nothing wrong with the keyboard just the mode.

Numbers instead of letters

I think you may have the numlock key on.

press and hold the 'fn' key and press the 'Numlk' key (F11)

this should turn off numlock and fix your issue.

Where is num lock key on Dell 5030

If there is no NumLock key then pressing the Fn (Function) buttonshould enable the number pad on the keys that have the Blue numbers onthem. On most laptops (dont know your model) there is a numlock key asthis allows the user to type numbers with two hands and not keep oneholding the Fn button. You would normally press the Fn button and theNumLock option to switch it on and every time you pressed the keys withthe numbers on it would use the number not the letter, pressing the Fnkey with NumLock on would normally allow the letter to be used withouthaveing to disable the NumLock.
This assumes of course that the normal letters are stamped with thenumbers on, if not it is most unusual, I don't think I hav eseen alaptop keyboard without numbers or the NumLock / Fn options. There areUSB number pads available that you can buy, these simply plug in to anavailable USB port and it is like an extension of your keyboard.

Some key on the keyboard are typing numbers instead of letters what should i do please?

Hi,

You might have accidentally activated the "Numlock" key on your keyboard. Just press the Numlock and it should type in letters instead of numbers.

If press just the Numlock key will not work, try the combination which is CTRL and Numlock simultaneously.

Hope this helps.

Keys numbers 0,9,8 and lettrs o,p, l do not function what should i do?

according to my assessment, your numlock function is on.

If you're writing numbers instead of letters when you press the keyboard of your laptop and you must hold down the Function key (Fn) to write normally.

This is due to the fact that the digital lock is activated. To solve this, simply press the Fn+Numlk or depending of the model, press the button or Fn + Shift +Numlk

Why is my computer typing numbers instead of letters when I type

That is because the Function key is enabled to type in numbers. Try pressing the Fn key (dont let go) and press Numlock key.

Please let me know how this goes. Thank you for using FixYa.

THE KEY M,J,K,L,U,I,O,P RETURNING 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,* RESPECTIVELY

Hi,

Those letters have secondary functions as numbers. Check if numlock is enabled. To disable it you need to press Fn and whatever key among F8, F11 or INSERT has the NUMLK function. after doing so, try those characters and see if they still type numbers instead of letters.
