I have an AIWA Compact Disc Stereo System Model No. XR-M200U. How do I disconnect the antennas from the back of the unit--The connectors seem very fragile and I hesitate to pull on them.

Repair; I doubt it, Replace; yes, but the hard part would be finding a replacement unit. You would have to open the case to find out what type of connectors it has and go from there. In the long run you're going to spend more time and effort than it's really worth. That isn't a newer stereo system so consider that you've gotten your moneys worth of life out of it. Best suggestion is to put a new stereo on your Christmas wish list.

The loop antenna is for AM. The FM connection is just like the speaker hook up. Pull down the tab and insert the bare wire.

For trial purpose you and use an old electrical cord . Strip the insulation off about 1/2 in and insert it into the connections on the back

One or more of the output transistors has failed or you have a bad speaker. Try disconnecting both speakers and turning on the unit. If it still shuts down, then the transistors are likely to be defective. These can be replaced for about $15-$25 plus labor at any service shop that handles audio gear.

Take a look at page 4:



You need to press on the tab to the right hand side (looking at the back) this will release the wire which should easily pull out.
To replace just push the tab again & insert the wire.
