Question about Apple iPod nano

Attempting to copy to disc failed

When I sync my ipod with itunes it loads the first album or so (231 songs out off 738), the comes up with error message 'Attempting to copy to the disk 'YVONNES IP' failed. The disk could not be read from or written to'...? I've downloaded all updates for itunes & the ipod, reset it time & time again & gone through everything the apple site suggests....any ideas...?

    I assume it stands for Yvonnes ipod which is what I've called it..? All I am doing is connecting my ipod and letting it sync.

Ipod classic won't sync with itunes 10


Restarting your computer is often the solution when your iPod fails to sync with your iTunes music library. But if this fails, there are other troubleshooting steps to take.

Recharge your iPod via a USB cable connected to your computer or AC adapter. b> Click the help menu in iTunes and check for updates. Follow the onscreen prompts to download and install the latest version of the software. Open the new version of iTunes. Click the name of your iPod in the source list and check for updates under the summary tab to update your iPod. Attempt to sync your iPod with iTunes. Slide your iPod's hold switch to the hold position and then to off. Press and hold the menu and center buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears to reset your iPod. Double-click the song file to select it and add it back to iTunes. Reconnect your iPod to the computer and open iTunes to restart the syncing process. Just purchased 64GB ipod Touch. Trying to manually copy a song to the ipod by dragging it over the device (which I have done successfully) I now get the following error msg. Attempting to copy to the disk...

You need to have itunes 8.1... that is when you can drag and drop music from your Computer to the itunes page, and it will automatically be loaded on your Ipod touch..

IPOD NANO SONGS ARENT WORKING!!!


Test the songs that are not playing on the iPod in iTunes and see if the original file is still playable on iTunes if the song still plays re-sync your iPod could be when iTunes copied the song it must have failed or timed out, if that fails re-syncing try restoring you iPod Nano i have had this problem before and I just re-synced and it worked fine!

reformat your ipod, if you installed itunes via disc or from file, you should have the option in itunes to restore your ipod to factory settings. If you have songs on your ipod that arnt on your computer, you will need to copy them off the ipod before you restore your ipod.
To copy music off an ipod that is YOURS (in XP) go to my computer>click on your ipod> then go to tools>folder options>View TAB>and click on the option "show hidden files and folders". Then there should be a folder somwhere in your ipod (depending on what ipod you have) that says music. Copy that folder to the desktop and filter through all of the folders inside it for your music.

When you try to sync files to any iPod in iTunes on a Mac or Windows computer, you might see the following -69 error message:
"Attempting to copy to the disk failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)"This error occurs when iTunes tries to send files to your iPod, but a file (or files) is unusable (something is wrong with it).


To figure out which file (or files) is causing the error, update to the latest version of iTunes and then do this:
  1. Control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on your iPod icon in the iTunes Source pane, then choose Sync Songs from the shortcut menu.
  2. Watch the display at the top of the iTunes window while your iPod is being updated. The name of the problematic file should appear in the display right before the error appears.Then remove the bad file from the list of songs to be synced to your iPod:
  3. Select the iPod in the iTunes Source pane.
  4. Click the Settings tab.
  5. Select the "Only sync checked items" checkbox (please note that this checkbox is only available for an iPod configured to update automatically).
  6. Select the appropriate item under Library in the sidebar and find the bad file in the list. (For example, if the file in question was a song you would select Music in the iTunes Source pane. If it were a video you would select Movies or TV Shows in the sidebar.)
  7. Deselect the checkbox next to the file name.
  8. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to update your iPod. If you have multiple problematic files in your iTunes library, you may need to repeat the other steps to remove them too.
To prevent future issues, you should delete the unusable files from your iTunes library, then restore them from a backup or reimport them from a CD.


If you're not able to isolate to any single file or if another iPod works with the same songs, then disconnect any other devices connected to USB or FireWire and try again. If the issue continues, then then try resetting your iPod. If the issue continues, then restore your iPod.

IPod Syncing problem


Hi There!! Im having some trouble with my iPod i'd love any help i can get! I have a 30g iPod and it has trouble syncing. When i plug it in it, it only syncs around 195.5mb of songs, even though its capacity is 30g. There is nothing else on it. When its taken in this amount of music

IPod won't finish syncing


Hello Spaceboy,

It sounds like the replacement iPod which you received may be damaged. I would recommend that you take the unit you received back into the Geek Squad® counter at your local Best Buy™ store with all your paperwork (receipt, service plan, and a copy of the service order for the previous rapid exchange) and let them know. If the unit is defective, they should be able to arrange another rapid exchange for you. Sorry to hear about the difficulties!
