Question about GE Dishwashers

1 Answer

We have a service contract with Broward Factory Service. My GE dishwaher went out with eater in it, no power. Checked the panel box flipped switch, nothing. The service tech. said the rinse aid cup leaked and ate thru the wiring, and he had read a recall about this. I am checking to see if Model #GSD3610Z00AA, Serial #ZS782757B is on the recall list.

I was trying to find out if the dishwasher was on a recall list, and I did by calling GE direct. It was not, so the service I have is replacing the rinse aid box.
Thank you,

We have no power to our kenmore dishwaher. Lights won't come on checked fuses an no power.

First recycle the D/W, 120VAC Circuit Breaker(C/B) which is usually located in your Main Electrical Fuse Panel and hopefully properly labeled. The C/B supplies power to the D/W. Recycle the C/B to see if it will restore D/W operation. If not then you must verify that 120VAC input power is present at the D/W electrical junction box, located behind the D/W Kick Plate/Cover You will have to remove this cover and use a Volt meter to check for 120VAC being supplied to the D/W. If 120 VAC is being supplied then .... The door interlock switch(s) may be BAD. The D/W inner door panel will have to be removed. Usually, there are two micro-switches, the wires are usually Black (Hot 120VAC) and White (120VAC Neutral). These switches are incorporated into the door Latch Mechanism/Lock and disconnect power to the D/W motor and electronics .... that is why when you open the door, the D/W stops operating. Also on the back side of the D/W Control Panel... there is the Electronic Control Module (ECM)( with electrical components and circuitry. On the (ECM) there maybe a Thermal Fuse mounted with (2) plug on wires. If the Fuse is OPEN, it will be necessary to replace it. For troubleshooting purposes, the !20VAC power to the D/W must be removed. Use an OHM meter to check the mircro switches and the Thermal Fuse located on the (ECM). There are additional thermal fuses located on the bottom of the D/W near the motor. They should also be checked and replace them if they are OPEN. Hope these suggestions help you! Good Luck! Handy Henry

old post. but I am posting here, to help , searchers.
this model has a full computer behind that panel
with service modes and factory test modes.
and a service manual..
try cycling power, (pull main power plug for 5min.)
make sure the drain line is not blocked. (i use a 5 gallon bucket to test my washer drain hose. 2 person, one to hold the hose firmly in his hands , aimed at buck. (the resest button kills all actions)

the beeps are error warnings, covered in the manuals.
there are many beep modes.
even door left open, does that, soap dispenser (option) empty.
the first tests on a PDW, washers, is the rinse, only mode.

when started, it first pumps the sump dry. (old water ejected)
if the pump do dose not start, but humms.. the drain is blocked.
then does a full rinse run. if not make sure the water valves are on.
these models have a Service mode, and a factory test mode
both are covered in the service manual, and allows the manual
testing of each mode and device in the washer.
The turbity sensor can get limed up , so run 1/2 cup of vinegar
in rinse mode. once running.

GE does not offer the serv. manual to DIY, but google does find them, if you search long and hard. "for sure"

is is a generic help page, but do not down load his helper browser bad (jeckle and hyde site) the HTML pages are safe.

flip every wall switch in your kitchen, while having door latched and turned to a run mode of some sure to check under kitchen sink for any hidden power switches as well.8 out of 10 ge d/w with this issue usually revert back to a wall switch

Sgs43a Dishwasher

Most of the time with dead bosch dishwashers, i find that the wire nut has melted where the service cord is connected to the appliance. This connection is on the lower right side of the dishwasher. you get to it by removing the two screws from the toe kick, then removing the screw holding the cover on the metal junction box, if it has one. Make sure power is off, then check the two connections inside that box. Usually the black wire is melted and needs to be repaired and re-connected with a new wire nut. Good luck!
