Hi Ray,

According to the Western Digital support page the drive will need reformatting for use with MacOS X Leopard (10.5). The relevant page is here http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/search/1/a_id/5730#

There is a direct link to the WD Mac update here http://community.wdc.com/t5/News-Announcements/Software-Update-Mac-WD-SmartWare-Updater-Version-1-3-3-8-6-14-11/m-p/206306#M181

Can you tell me how to reformat my WD Elements external drive for use with a Mac? Thank you

You can use a pc formatted drive with a mac but to format it as a mac drive go to applications then into utilities then go disk utility. Once opened in the left hand side choose your hard drive on the right hand side you will see buttons "First Aid", "Erase", "RAID and "Restore". Click on Erase under volume format choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) then name your hard drive and then click the erase button down below the name box. Hope this helps

My Mac will not store data on my wd external hard-drive

Take it back to where you bought it, and get a replacement,
or at least get them to demonstrate that it _does_ work, when connected to a Mac computer (not a Windows computer).
