The hard drive either has a bad connection or it has failed. if it has failed you have to replace it. if you have replaced it is the connector connected and is it oriented right.

If the BIOS does not detect the hard disk and Windows XP cannot detect the hard disk to install Windows, then the hard disk is faulty.
To get your Acer working agai, you need to replace this hard disk with a new one.

Hi, I own an Acer Aspire M5630 Standard desktop

Hi,
A branded computer uses Original Equpment Manufacturer (OEM) version of Operating System, hence if you change any hardware it will go to the trial version of OS automatically. Hence, you have to use the full system recovery disk to reinstall the OS.

My Acer Aspire 5100 laptop won't boot. At startup the Acer logo is shown and than drops to a black window with flickering cursor (with now and than a loud bleep). Can anybody tell me what the problem is...

be sure to remove all other external devices hooked to your pc. just leave ac adapter plugged in. then try if it will boot to safemode by pressing F8 upon seeing the Acer Logo. if it will boot, what you need is reinstall your OS. if it will still not boot then you need to replace hdd.
