sony bravia 32 in. tv model number KDL-32L4000 has a runaway sound that increases to the maximum and will not decrease nor mute. Unplugging causes a temporary reset. It flashes from channel 3 where it should be to channel 14 and back. What can I do?

The tv is grounded with its three prong plug. Do you have another idea?

The button board on the TV where the power, channel up/down and volume up/down button reside sounds like the problem. They could just be sticky and dirty if you feel like attempting dissasembly and cleaning. Or you may have to replace the board.

Try to see the configuration of it by the menu of the tv or see the default to reset the settings.

Anything is fixable!! It sounds like there is a logic problem. Because the problem comes and goes, I'd first look at the 5V voltage regulator section and also for poor connections on the boards. If you could post the specific model number of your set, I can provide more detailed guidance.

Thanks,
Dan

Looks like the core of the problem is this:

microswitches on the frontcontrol board leaking.replace it.
http://www.fixya.com/support/t2422987-same_problem What worked for me was this: Supposedly, the front panel is known to have leaky switches. power,volume,menu,etc.. They asked me to take my finger and rub left to right back and forth hitting all the buttons, do this about 20 times.. then poke the reset button in and out a few times.. Wait about 60 to 90 seconds and see if your green light quits flashing.. If so, try powering on with your remote.

Flashing color in and out with popping sound

This sounds like the solder joints have cracked on the AFT can inside the tuner, a common Sony problem. Removing the tuner, opening it up and resoldering the grounds and small transformers inside should clear it up.
