Re: sony digital handycam dcr-trv33: how to transfer...
First you need a driver for your camcorder to recognize the device what you plug. use USB for pluging it. upload your videos to any movie maker application such as ulead movie maker, nero movie maker, windows movie maker, etc.. save it with any various types of videos like avi, divx, vcd, dvd, etc.. and now its on your computer. heres the link and other instructions of installations. hope that helps!

You can also transfer the videos to the Computer using an i.LINK cable. The i.LINK cable is better than the USB as the former transfers the videos digitally and the latter in analog form. Hence, the video quality is good for the videos transferred using i.LINK. You will not need any supplied Software to do this. You need only the i.LINK cable and the video capture Software like Windows Movie Maker(Pre-installed) in Windows Xp Computer.

Your camera will not be recognized when you connect it via firewire. To transfer the video from your camera to your computer you will need a video editing program that is able to capture video from camcorders connected via firewire.
You can try Windows Movie Maker for Windows 7. Alternatively your can search through the internet to find a more advanced video editing software.
