The camera enters Sleep mode over a certain amount of time when not being operated. You can select the time to enter the Sleep mode from OFF, 1, 3, 5 or 10 minutes.

Would like to know how to cut sleep mode off on Panasonic dmc zs5

Sleep mode in cameras are features built to save the battery. You can extend the the time but complete turn-off? Excess is from the camera settings menu.

I forgot to turn off my casio EX-Z9 Exilim camera before disconnecting it from my computer and now it won't turn on.

  • Use only the dedicated USB cable to connect the camera to your computer.
  • Push the plug firmly all the way into the socket. Loose connections can cause faults or malfunctions.
  • Connect the camera to the computer directly using the dedicated USB cable. Thecamera and computer may not operate correctly if you connect them via a hub or you connect to multiple USB devices.
  • The connection may not operate correctly if you are using other USB devices, excluding USB mouse or keyboards, at the same time. If this occurs, disconnect the other USB devices from the computer and try reconnecting the camera.
  • Do not connect more than one camera to the same computer. The connections may not operate correctly.
  • While the camera and your computer are communicating, the camera's LCD panel may blink and, if you are using the LCD monitor, the image on the monitor may flicker. This is not a malfunction.
  • When unplugging the dedicated USB cable, be sure to grip the sides of the plug as you pull it out.
  • If you do not perform any operation while the camera and computer are connected, a confirmation message appears on the computer screen asking whether you wish to continue communicating with the camera for some computer systems. If you do not perform any operation even after this message appears, the communication with the camera is terminated. To re-establish communication, press the shutter button down halfway or set turn off the camera then turn it back on.
  • Do not put the computer to sleep while it is connected to the camera. If you do put your computer to sleep while it is connected to the camera, never disconnect the dedicated USB cable while your computer is still in sleep mode. Always wake your computer up before disconnecting the camera. On some types of computers, disconnecting the dedicated USB cable while your computer is in sleep mode could prevent the computer from waking up correctly. Refer to the computer's User's Manual for more information on sleep mode.
  • When the camera is connected to a computer, you should use the AC Adapter KitACK-DC10 (optional) so that you can continue using the camera regardless of battery level.

LAPTOP WILL NOT COME OUT OF 'SLEEP' MODE

Turn it on, then wait, u will hear the computer turning itself on and off, but nothing is showing on the screen. so make it turn on and off, 3 time.( such as hearing the computer turned off, so that one,THEN IT TURNS ITSELF ON AGAIN, next time it turns off, that count as 2, and so on). on the third shut off then u press and hold the off button, to force it to shut down, then wait. about 5-10min., or less then 5. after then u turn the computer on.it should be on by now. if not try it again. if it happens again try one more time, if it happens again. then there something really wrong with your computer.

Olympus Stylus 730 shuts off after few seconds. Battery is fully charged, tried a resetting: no change.

To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover opens and the monitor is on). No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed in this mode.
Operate the zoom lever or other buttons to restore the camera from sleep mode before taking a picture. If the camera is left for 15 minutes, it automatically turns off (the lens cover closes and the monitor turns off). Press POWER to turn the camera on.

1. Please male sure that the battery is inserted in the correct orientation
2. For laptops, make sure you have checked the Power Options settings.
a. Hibernate should not be set.
b. Monitor, Hard Disks and System standby should be set to NEVER
3. For desktops, turn off computer's hibernation, standby, and sleep modes.

STUCK ON STANDBY

I took the ****** apart and found two spring-loaded black triangular plastic pieces poking out of two rectangular chips about 2mm square, just below the circular piece on the outside of the camera that changes mode – play, video, camera. Actually I found one of the above, because the second triangular piece was stuck in the closed position. A bit of jiggling and voila the problem was fixed.
That was the good news. The other news is that I must now reinsert inside of the shell a black circular piece of plastic that affixes to the rotating circular piece on the outside of the camera that changes the mode. When properly attached this circular piece manipulates the triangular pieces to change the mode.
I think that the likelihood of getting this piece properly aligned and affixed so that it moves the triangular pieces properly when the mode knob is rotated falls into the statistical probability range of pork taking wing. But worth a try.

All Day Shooting

I will leave mine on unless I know I won't be taking a picture for quite a while. Sleep mode does a good job of saving the batteries. The only thing I don't like is, sometimes, not always, but sometimes, it is slow to wake up. You can half press the shutter once in a while to keep it from going to sleep, but you're batteries will die very quickly. I do that if I know a good shot is coming any minute and I know my camera is ready to go to sleep. Just don't do it too much.
