Re: BCM-2 in foreign countries

The charger can be operated within the range of 100V to 240V AC (50/60Hz). When using the charger abroad, you many need a plug adapter to convert the plug to fit the shape of the AC wall outlet. Please do not use a converter, it may cause the charger to malfunction.

Benq camera . Zoom out of the camera no longer operate and emits sound as if there is something aperture of the lens ..... Please reply disadvantage , and how to fix it

Hi Beshoui,
I believe your zoom lens is not extending when you power on. In most cases like this, there is likely a foreign body (sand) or similar objects lodged between the lens tubes or the camera has been subjected to a knock (dropped, bumped against a solid surface) that caused the lens tube to miss-align. All you need to do is:
1. as you switch on the camera, give a little knock/ tapping with your fingers around the lens.
2. if that fails, apply a little pressure to the sides of the lens ring while powering on your camera.

Lets hope that will help to dislodge the foreign body or the lens tube miss-alignment.

55 plate Laguna: key cards not recognised and assumed card reader issue. Replaced card reader, but same problem, told is a "BCM issue" (main car computer?). Is this easy to replace and is it costly?

BODY CONTROL MODULE can be very costly unless you can do some of the work yourself. It is not worth taking it to a dealer to do, I have heard of a case where they wanted 2000 pounds to cnage the BCM and all the associated paraphenalia. You could get old bits from a scrapyard fairly cheaply but you then have to fit them.

In short the procedure can be so complicated that it is not worth while

If you are a competent and experienced , and confident mechanic you might be able to tackle the job yourself but, from what I have come actoss you might permanently disable you vehicle. I was intending to buy a 2009 peugeot expert van that was being sold because the BCM had gone and the repair cost was crazy so it was put into an auction. I did not buy because of the difficulties mentioned above

PS I would just use the keys

Where can I get a travel adapter / charger for my Digimax A7

The A7 can work with standard AA batteries so you could just pack several extra sets.

Without knowing what country you're in and what country you're traveling to, I can't give you any specific recommendations, but a local electronics or office-supply store should have a selection of adapters to fit the plug of your charger into foreign power outlets. I found one at a nearby Radio Shack for my upcoming overseas trip.

I have an Olympus stylus 720 SW, when I turn it on the lens cover either won't open or opens only partly.

1. Sand or foreign object in the lens cover.2. bad motor or gears.
Try cleaning with canned air while powering the camera up/down...

I have purchased a kodak easyshare c143 digital camera and it is set on a foreign langage i do not understand so consequently i cannot get it set on english. Could you please help!!!!

Welcome to FixYa.

I have here the manual of your Kodak EasyShare C143 Digital Camera. Since your camera was set into foreign language,in this manual you can view the sequence on how to set up the language of your camera. I suggest that you just have to follow the sequence since you cant understand what it says on it right now. You just have to click in here.

If your going to use it for the first time, you just have to see page 2 but for more details in setting the language, you just have to go on page 33.

I hope this manual can help you to change the language of your camera.
Feel free to reply on this if you still have any questions.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Nikon D60 newbie : colour distortion / large smudge in photos

D-SLR cameras are designed to be used with interchangeable lenses and foreign matter may enter the camera when lenses are changed. Once inside the camera, this foreign matter may adhere to the sensor, where it may appear in photographs taken under certain conditions. To prevent foreign matter from entering the camera
  • do not change lenses in dusty environments
  • point the camera down when changing lenses.
  • e738ca2.jpg
To protect the camera when no lens is in place be sure to thread on the body cap provided with the camera, being careful to first remove all dust and other foreign matter that may be adhering to the body cap.
Remove foreign matter from low-pass filter
  1. Clean the low-pass filter covering the sensor as instructed in the camera manual or continue reading below.
  2. Have the low-pass filter cleaned by authorized Nikon Authorized Service Center
  3. The Nikon D300 and D60 has the ability to clean the sensor* using the "Clean Image Sensor" feature. Please see page 371 in your D300 User's Manual, and page160 in your D60 User's Manual for more information. *Clean Image Sensor may not remove all sensor contamination and additional manual cleaning may be necessary. See page 374 in the D300 manual, and page 162 in the D60 manual for more information.
  4. Fix images with black spots
Photographs with dust or foreign matter on the low-pass filter can be retouched using the 'Image Dust Off' function available in Nikon Capture 4 or later (available separately) if the image was taken in the NEF format, for more information visit the article on 'How does Image Dust off' work.

Dimage E40 TV picture stability

In black and white? If there is a red and yellow, white and yellow, or red white and yellow on the tv end make sure the colors are matched correctly. Try on channel 3. Try on another tv. Is the camera from a foreign country? (Might be PAL, not NTSC.) If so, there should region menu in the camera to change this. For video, you have to shoot it in the mode of the TV you want to watch it on. North American TV's are NTSC, so shoot with the camera in that mode. If you shoot in PAL mode, a north american TV will show a black and white rolling picture. Just about everywhere else in the world is some version of PAL.
