Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Display Drivers i'm using intel P4 2.4Ghz on 845G motherboard and Nvidia GeForce FX5200 AGP graphics card. i have windows XP pro SP2 installed with directX 9.0c. but pc is displaying very low graphics like 600x400 resolution and 8bit colors. i tried several times to adjust graphics but after rebooting it appears same. i checked hardware many times and it is correct. i downloaded latest drivers and upgraded my display driver software for Nvidia GeForce. i have lost my original Nvidia graphics card driver CD which was provided with my card and before, when i had that CD and installed old drivers contained in it, it worked fine and now with latest drivers it doesnt work. its strange. what is the solution for this problem?

If you right click on the wallpaper and go to the VC Conrol Center, you will see 2 vc, one with the normal resolution and other with 600x400 and 8 bits. This is perfectly normal

Is DFI AK75-AL compatible with 128Mb/128 bit video card?

Yes, the DFI AK75-AL motherboard has a VIA KT-133A chipset which is compatible with a FX5200 videocard, but not at the full 8x AGP speed (as the videocards supports) but only at 4x AGP speed (maximum speed supported by the motherboard).

PS: Make sure you use the newest motherboard BIOS en VIA chipset drivers to ensure compability.

Nvidia Geforce FX5200 128mb DDR AGP 8x

Hi, since you mentioned you installed an MSI card & it worked well. I can assume you changed the bios & to boot to the AGP rather than the Integrated 3D video. This is good. Notice the message you got from Nvivia. It could not locate any compatible drivers. This can indacates 1 of 4 reasons.
1. The 5200 was not completely incerted into the AGP slot.
2. The AGP slot is dirty & needs cleaned.
3. Nvidia software was installed but previouse graphics software was not removed (un-installed) before the installation of the nvidia software.
4.The card is bad.
Suggest you download the latest driver software from Nvidia.

GeForce4 MX 420 Video Card

First question: Are you sure you have a PCI card?
there are several points here:
Make sure you have the monitor connected to the correct output on your computer. (In this case to the output of the graphics card, not to your onboard output)
If you have a PCI card set bios to PCI
Setting it to AGP means the computer is looking for a graphics card in you AGP-slot on you motherboard.

I cannot help thinking, that you actually have a AGP card in a AGP slot and that you computer is not working on onboard, but on AGP. But you can check which graphics device is used, in display properties (right-click Desktop, Properties, Settings)

Please post some feedback
