LG 42LD450 42 in TV Logo
Posted on Jul 10, 2011

My 42LD450 won't stay on! It turns on for a few seconds and works fine, then the screen flashes then comes back on, then flashes again after a couple seconds, then turns off. Rinse and repeat. Tried unplugging everything & it did it again. I did this 40 times or so over an hour in the morning then it finally worked. And worked all day until this evening. Then I was watching TV tonight and 20 minutes into a DVD it turned off and now I have the same problem. Been trying for an hour and it won't stay on for more than a few seconds again. Of course LG phone support system is off right now. I bought the TV in December from Amazon, hope it's still under manuf. warrantee. Thanks in advance for any help.

I hope that you can use the warrantee.

Otherwize, it must be possible to repair it with a fried comfortable with electronic because the problem is not permanent. This kind of problem is usually an old capacitor or a bad connection (soldering).
It would be important to check if changing the ambiant temperature fixes the problem. (I.E. move it to the seller for 2h and try..)

Monitor won't turn on after a few hours of being shut off

If it EVER works, then the problem is not a failed part, but a weak part. The most likely component type to give you such problems are capacitors. But very few repair techs know how to find such problems, and even fewer have the equipment needed to find the bad one(s) in-circuit. The failure mode is high ESR (ESR means Equivalent Series Resistance). The lower the ESR, the better. Capacitors with high ESR cannot stabilize circuits which demand high pulse currents, such as in switch mode power supplies.

Phone keep flashing screen on and off and won't stay on

I've had the same problem. Best solution is to put it on charge, face down for a few days. For some reason, overheating the phone by charging it for too long helps. My has this problem, that solves it but it'll come back again....

Samsung 931bw screen flashes on and off

unscrew the back cover of the monitor then remove to access the power supply board, look for a leak or blown up electrolytic capacitor. just replace with the same rating and value a panasonic brand of capacitor much better with low esr.

MY HP LED HD 23" screen goes black for few seconds and then goes back up again.

This is most likely the power inverter. It's a relatively small part but if it's not supplying power to the backlight, you won't see anything.
It needs to be replaced.

The unit worked fine when i last used it in the fall. I plugged it back in today and all the buttons lit up for about 1.5 seconds and then all the buttons went dark again. So I pushed the "on"...

I have had a problem like this in the past you can try taking the electric access panel usually on the side of the equipment. then look inside you will see a wiring harness inside and it literally takes nothing to bump it loose. This happens when people move these units they are pretty fragile and can be tempermental. Make sure the unit is unplugged while you adjust the wiring harness. If that deosnt work your display board is probably bad. Hope that helps

Monitor flashes on then goes black.

I think you have the display shut off. the button on the bottom left will shut screen off. It will come on for a few seconds if you touch the screen, but will shut off again. just push the display button again and it should stay on.
