Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07. If the brushbar in your cleaner doesn't seem to be rotating, please check you have the brush control set to 'Carpets', as it won't rotate when set to 'Hard floors', or if the cleaner is standing in the upright position.

If the brush control is set correctly and the brushbar still won't turn, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

Brushes will not rotate

I can't tell for sure from the pictures, but there are two possibilities - the drive belt to the brushes broke, or the brush can't turn due to excessive hair wrapped around the shaft. If the belt is OK but the brush does not turn, you should smell burning rubber.

If the belt is broken, you have to remove the bottom plate to expose the brush, remove the brush and the broken belt, and replace the belt, and put it back to gether. While you have the brush out, now would be a good time to clean it - remove the hair, etc from the brush and around the shaft. Good Luck!

Where is the belt housed on the Hoover vacum cleaner model U5461-900? The belt number is 38528-033 but I can't find where the broken belt is to replace it.

Simply lay the machine down with the brush assembly facing upwards, and remove the four screws holding the bottom plate in place, and remove it. Put the new belt around the motor shaft, then around the brush assembly and push the brush back into place. Turn the brush with your fingers before replacing the bottom plate, to be sure the belt isn't caught between the brush and housing.

My powerhead drive belt to the N137A electrolux model has broken. I have a new belt for replacement but do not know how to install.

Turn the PN bottom up. With a Phillips screwdriver, remove the six screws in the base. Turn PN over and lift back of cover, then gently manipulate it until it comes off.
Slide the belt off motor shaft, if necessary. Remove the screws on each end of the brush and lift the end of the brush so you can remove the belt, if necessary. Place new belt on brush and place brush into slot. Replace screws and tighten. Pull belt back to motor shaft and slip on. Check belt for tautness. There should be a little play, but not much. Make sure belt is placed correctly and rotate brush a few turns.
I recommend cleaning the inside of the PN while you have it apart. Use the dust brush to vacuum as much as possible out.
Make sure the light cover is in the correct position. Carefully place front lip of PN cover into slot in front.of the PN. Carefully settle cover in place. Check around the PN to ensure cover and base are correctly placed. Turn PN over and replace screws, short one in front.

I do recommend letting a trained Aerus Electrolux tech do this, especially since the belt will have a one year warranty if he/she does it. Of course the belt should last longer than that, anyway.

Sears vacuum beater bar wont turn...belt is good ..will turn by hand but motor wont turn it..

Check that the belt is not too slack and that the brush bearings are not too tight, or that some lint or thread is caught around the brush shaft.

Roller not turning

If the motor runs when you switch on, but the brush roll doesn't revolve, then there may be a broken belt. I wonder how old your vac is? Sebo belts are very high quality and they usually last 10 years at least.
Before you go to the trouble of checking the belts, check the brush roll and its drive shaft. Remove the brush roll and check for signs of damage at the end where it engages the drive shaft. Also see if you can easily rotate the drive shaft - if you can, there's a belt broken. To confirm, lie the machine down so you can see the drive shaft, then switch on (keep fingers clear!) and look to see if the shaft is rotating. If you can't turn the shaft by hand and it does rotate when you switch on, then the belts are OK but the brush roll may not be locating properly and you probably need a new one.

To check the belts you need to get the cover off the base, as follows: separate the base from the bag compartment by pressing the button at front bottom of bag compartment then just pull the two apart (a gentle lever may help). Then turn the base over and undo ONLY the four deeply recessed screws (you will need a cross-head screwdriver). Turn the base right-way up again and lift off the cover. You will then see the belts.
If you find the belts are both good, or if you find one broken and need further help, post a reply here, tell me what you've found, and I'll guide you through the next steps.
Good luck!

My vacumn wont pick up from the bottom but the hose works fine. I emptied the bag and the green light is on.

Either the glide plate at the bottom is blocked or the belt is broken

Please leave feedback
Thanks

Brush / roller wont turn

most likely the belt is broken. Bad news regarding all Dyson's. You can't replace just the belt your self. You have to purchase a new belt assembly which includes the gears. And it wont be cheap. I would call it a design flaw but i am sure that dyson calls it a profit scheme.

Steam vac hoover F7458900

There is no belt, the brush block is turned by a turbine. Check the brush block, make sure that the shaft that goes into the turbine isn't broke off, If ok, then replace the turbine, or take it apart and clean it out.
