Vista - HP Laserjet scan issue

I have a Vista pc and a HP Laserjet printer. I was able to install the latest drivers from the HP site for printing and scanning. I can print fine, but cannot and do not have the option to scan.

The process fails everytime I try to scan. I do not have the original cd.

Any ideas on how to go about fixing this issue.

Thanks

Try installing the software (you can download it from the site) for XP in Vista, usually that works fine.

I have a HP all in one printer ( 4215 ) that doesn't want to scan anymore. Every time i try to scan it tell me that i do not have the right drivers. Before I change from windows exployer7 to windows...

I think your printer has actually lost it's scanner driver, might it's corrupt or it could be some other issues. The only solution is re-installing the driver. If you still have the Hp Driver CD that came with the printer, install all the drivers using the CD or if you don't have that CD, you can still download it from the HP Official website. Click HERE for Windows XP driver and HERE for Windows Vista. For Windows 7 upgrade, you have to install the software patch, click HERE to download.
If you need further help. Let me know.
Good Luck.

How can i install my hp deskjet d2560? when the time i bought my hp printer it has cd instalation driver but the cd has d2500 series so i go to the net and download the driver for d2560, but when i...

The same driver software is used by the D2500 printer series, of which your D2560 is one model. So the "D2500 series" drivers are correct.

Make sure you downloaded the correct drivers for your Vista version, 32-bit or 64-bit. The links are to the HP site drivers page for your printer. Also, HP printers often will not work if you connect the printer before installing the drivers. The setup guide and CD both mention this, but it is sometimes overlooked. Try uninstalling the HP software and following the process again, and make sure the printer is not connected until you are instructed to connect it.

These steps will install the proper drivers so Vista can use the printer. If the printer still is not working, please post a follow-up comment with more information: error messages, indicator lights, print quality problems, etc.

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!

When i click on print tab the message pop up with sound " the document failed to print" what to do now, i have hp laserjet 1100

Three things ...
check that your Printer has no error: no paperjam, paper in the paperholder ink is full, etc....
Then the next step is to verify you have the correct printer driver installed on your pc. I assume this is correct as you were able to print prior to the issues occuring I assume.
lastly ... poweroff the print, poweroff your pc, wait 10 seconds... turn on your printer. Turn on your pc.
also check when your pc has turned on that the print queue is not in offline mode.,
good luck ... hope this helps

My printer will not scan items. I tried to

Was it scanning on this particular PC/OS before? What is the model of your scanner?
I know alot of scanners require software to be running. For EG HP has it's little digital imaging monitor that has to run in the system tray and starts up automatically on startup. If it is not running, your not scanning.
Make sure that you have not disabled your scanners monitoring feature. Also, check your cables to make sure they are plugged in.
Another test would be to install on another pc and if it doesn't work with that pc either then you have a hardware issue.
If the scanner works on XP but not vista, then it is a Vista driver issue.
I can think of no other answers without more detailed information.
Hope one of these ideas helps you.

Drjve hp1012 for windows vista basines

At this moment there is no Vista driver for this printer.
You may download the current XP driver from HP to provide printing functionality. Windows Vista printing is very similar to Windows XP and most print drivers supported in XP environment for LaserJet printers may also work in the Windows Vista operating system.

Constant error messages from hp deskjet2400

From the forum this is in, I will assume that you are running Win2k3EE on your laptop. Your issue might be a compatability issue with the print drivers. HP is notorious for making bad print drivers (ever since their aquisition of Compaq...before that, they did rock-solid work IMHO). For this printer, you may want to 1) uninstall the printer and use the Windows printer install wizard, as opposed to the HP installer, or 2) see if HP does offer a Server 2003 specific driver. HP commonly includes a bunch of "junk" in their Deskjet print drivers because those printers are targeted to individual home users who will use XP or Vista. Hope this helps...I know it isn't much to go on...good luck!
