Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Wireless Router (WPN824NAR)

1 Answer

Lost all internet connections through NetGear Router

We have a NetGear RangeMax WPN824 and the lights on the router all show that it is receiving activity, but we aren't able to get on the internet. We have done everything that we usually do and unplug the router and reconnect. We have even tried hooking up our laptop directly to the router with the ethernet cable but we're still unable to get connection. We even removed all firewalls just to see if we could get any kind of internet access. However that didn't work either. We don't want to reset the router because we paid $100 for a GeekSquad guy to come out and create an encryption. Does anyone know what could possibly be the problem?

I cannot get an internet connection, and cannot access Email through the router. I can without the router.

. I bought this router and was able to connect to internet just fine. Then, the router upgraded to a newer firmware version and have had problem connecting to internet through the router ever since. Tech support has been no help. I can connect to internet through my modem, and I can detect my router, but I cannot connect to internet through router.

Everytime I want to use the internet I have to plug in the ethernet cable from the router- WPN824- and go the the 192.168.1.1 address and setup the wireless setting. Then I can disconnect and use my laptop...

Netgear routers are notorious for this. The firmware on the unit just loses connection. In order to fix this, you have to make sure that you have the latest firmware.

There are several version of your unit. go to the following page and download the firmware and update it to the latest non-beta release.

I have a netgear wireless router wpn824 and in moving lost the software to be able to connect to another home computer (was on cable at other location) can you purchase just the software

There is a MANUEL way to get the router working. Find somebody that would know the login IP Address of the router (could be 192.168.1.1) and then you can set it up from within your Internet browser. Quite a tricky router to set up though but it can be done

Lost setup DC

The router is compatible with any operating system. You don't need to use the CD that came with it to setup the internet connection. Just open the router's setup page by typing http://192.168.2.1 on your browser. There you can see the automatic setup.

Can't connect a PC to internet via rangemax

Sounds like the network card on the 3rd computer might be set to a manual ip address. Is the rangemax router the dhcp server? if so is the network card on the 3rd computer set to obtain an ip address automatically?

can you tell me the ip address of the rangemax router?
whats the ip address of the 3rd pc?

Thanks,
Brad

Is the smart setup (that is automatic setup) does not work, call your internet provider for the exact details (unless you have them) and do the manual setup.
You will save time.
