That "w" is actually a M for memory. And yes, that's where it is located.

Black or Blank screen fix?

Often I see people say they turn on, lights are on but NO screen. The fix maybe to REMOVE and RE-SEAT the RAM module. Usually it is located under a flap under the Laptop. Remove the flap, take out the SIMM and then replace it. Often this will restore things back to normal. But NOT always.

I have a HP Pavillion DV2500, today I went to turn on my laptop like normal and it won't turn on? What is wrong I have had lots of pcs and laptops and never had this particular problem. It won't power up...

Try this it may or may not work.. Remove the battery also the Ram from underneath a flap under laptop, unscrew the screws and carefully remove the RAM. Now wait a few minutes replace the RAM, carefully, and and now, plug in the Power Supply, see if the unit boots, if it does wait until the desktop comes up, and then, power off and replace battery. It should now go, if not suspect the battery is gone bad. probably have to replace, hopefully it will not come to that.

The screen goes black, but will come back for a while after I activate the "sleep" button, normally depressed by shutting the screen.

Try this, remove power, take out the battery, carefully remove the Ram, from under a flap under the laptop. Now reinsert RAM, carefully. Now reinsert battery, now connect up to power. Try restarting your laptop, if it asks you if you want to delete any, "Restore" points say.. yes. Hopefully the laptop will now be OK. If not get back to me.

Acer 4710, how to install memory & harddisk

Underneath your laptop are removable flaps unscrew the one with the RAM under it, and look at the Type of RAM it is, then you can get more RAM exactly the same and put it in the spare slot. If no spare slot then you will have to upgrade with a bigger single stick RAM that will work. Your Operating System will automatically detect and handle the upgrade.

You will find the memory on the Toshiba A45-S250 under the keyboard. Snap of the grill that also has the on/off button on it, just above the keyboard. You will find two screws holding down the keyboard and another screw near the middle holding down a small silver piece that is holding down the center part of the keyboard. Lift the keyboard from the screen end toward you. Memory is located under a clear plastic flap. The power should be off and the battery removed during this operation. Be sure to touch some metal piece to ground yourself also. Good luck.

Where can I find the instructions to upgrade memory for a LG R400 pro laptop?. I found one connector on the back of the Laptop, but the 2nd bay I can note see it.

Please check out this URL,

To upgrade memory, first remove all power / battery / depress start button to de-energise, there is an inspection flap under your laptop, Usually the smaller one, unscrew and be careful not to lose screws, Memory is gently eased upward and outward. Be aware only a certain spec of ram can be fitted.(In URL)

How do I add more RAM memory

It is easy to add more RAM to the laptop, the first thing you need to know is the type of memory you model uses. Your model uses DDR2@533MHz up to 2 GB RAM (2 chips 1 GB each).
1. Remove the larger cover in the back of the laptop (2 screws) ; the memory chips are under this cover.
2. Replace the chip(s) with larger capacity chip(s).
3. Put the cover back (using the 2 screws you safely removed in step 1). Thats it!
