V-Chip Channel Block

I have a RCA from 1998. Somehow some of my channels have gotten blocked out. I can't find the password to override the blocked channel. Any help would be appreciated.

Take your tv model number and search on replacementremotes.com for your original remote control. you must get your original remote control to do this. After you search on replacementremotes.com it will bring up your original remote control. and then order it, or if they suggest a replacement it should work too.

Let's try to sort this out. You have a universal remote control which you want to use with your RCA TV. You turn on the TV, press and release the TV button on your remote, and enter an RCA TV code. You then press the ON-OFF (or POWER) button and the TV turns off. If not, you repeat the process with other codes until you find one that turns the TV off. If you are successful, you should be able to turn on the TV and channel up or down through all available channels in your area. If I am missing something, post a reply

I have a APEX television. My kids were playing with the remote, now i have a blue screen with a red key sign on it, i can't do nothing with the television now. what do i do?

Hello
Your Apex TV ahs been locked. It can be unlocked by the folloing method.

Apex TVs use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for many models is 6688. Other sets may not have one, or may have a default code of 1225 instead of an override code.

1. To use the override code:

2. Hit the MENU key to get to the menus.

3. Go down to the SYSTEM menu and hit the right arrow on the remote control.

4. Once in the SYSTEM menu, go to PARENTAL GUIDE. It will ask for your code.

5. Enter the override code listed above. From here, you can turn on and off different rating restrictions, as well as set a new code.
No matter what the V-chip code is set to, the override code will still work. If you have a blank screen with a red key on the bottom left, simply press the (function or F) button and the mute button at the same time. This will unlock the screen and allow you to view the channel as desired
OK.

I recently put an arial on the roof and I pucked up a few channels and they are encrypted and asks for a password is there how do I get the password? Also is it legal?

Encrypted channels are not free, that's the idea. You buy access to the channel and they give you a password. you have to ask the broadcaster in your area for access.

Remote such automaticaly

Looks like a jammed "channel up" (P+ , CH+ or similar) button on your remote. Try disassembling the remote and cleaning the rubber pads with some ethyl alcohol and cottonwool. Also clean the pads on the circuit board which come in contact with the buttons pressed.

If your TV set has channel up/down buttons on the front panel, it could be that one of these is jammed instead (could also be something else, i just suggested the most likely solution i could think of).

I hope this helps somehow...

Problem with channel skipping has rectified itself. I simply unplugged the set and and started over with remote intructions on signal and channel setting. The tv was also turning itself off and on, this also has ceased. Thanks, hope I don't need you later.
