Tiny holes in clothes

Our front loading Maytag washer continues to randomly give back clothes with several randomly placed tiny holes through the material, especially with T-shirts. Not always and not in all shirts in any given load. We have ruled out anything coming from outside the washer by putting brand new, unworn T shirts in the wash. These have also come out with tiny holes scattered throughout. The holes are round and do not appear to be angular tears. They look as if something nasty such as bleach splashed on the clothes when they were dry. However we have not used bleach with these loads. We only add bleach to the bleach container when we do a load of white socks every 10 loads or so. Help. We're running out of shirts.

We have the same problem with an LG front-loader. It does seem to happen regularly in T-shirts. The inside of the drum is smooth with nothing protruding from it. What is going on???

Hi I have had this problem too, small tiny holes appearing in the front of garments around the belly button area, I am looking into the possibility of it being silverfish!

Small holes - - sometimes as many as 3 or more - are appearing in my best T-shirts and also some brand new colored jerseys. My family and I have searched inside the washer anc cannot find any evidence of what is causing this problems. What is the cause of this and how can it be corrected. I have had numerous shirts ruined because of this problem, some brand new shirts with little slits torn in each one.

I also have this problem. It appears to be the clothes rubbing against the rubber door gasket in the spin cycle. Try setting the spin cycle to a slower speed. This has reduced the holes, but not eliminated them.... still looking for a complete solution.

We have the same problem. Look at the agitators inside the washer. We found strings and material there. Not sure what or if there is a fix bout I just saw the problem 2 days ago.

It's too soon to tell, but I think the cause of my problem is the screws on the handles on my drawers. The fronts of my shirts are right where the screws from the drawer pulls are. I think the screws may be scatching on the fabric. I put some duct tape over them, and I'm hoping this solves the problem.

Check the inside of the drum. Chances are, there is a sharp object pointing out that is doing this.

Mildew smell

PLEASE KKEP IN MIND THAT THE MAYTAG NEPRUNE FRONT LOAD WASHER IS WHAT GOT MAYTAG IN TROUBLE!!!!!!
Whirlpool bought MAYTAG about 3 year ago.

THe mold is because of the rubber boot in the front of the door. PLEASE check to see if the rubber seal has a small hole in the lower bottom of the seal to let small portions of water drain out. If you DO NOT have this small hole, you need to replace the rubber boot with one that has a hole.
NOW, WORD TO THE WISE and this is what I tell ALL FOLKS that have a FRONTLOAD WASHING MACHINE:
AFTER you washer in the washer LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN so that the washer can ventilate and remove any moisture that is within.
ALSO, every 2 months, get a WHITE CLOTH with WARM WATER and a littl;e bit of BLEACH and CLEAN THE RUBBER BOOT!!!!!!

Makes scratching noise

A common problem with noises from washing machines has been the under wire that may come out of small clothes. In the washer they can get stuck in one of the inner basket holes and make a scrapping noise, they can actually make there way into the pump and jam the pump, or make a terrible noise when the pump is running. Grab a flash light and have a peek inside the washer for this. Front load washers seem very common to this happen! If the tiny cloth  is showing signs of fraying, may be best not to wash it in the washing machine, replace the cloth

Neptune top load holes in clothes

You may have something between your basket (the area where you put your clothes) and your tub (the part that holds all the water in. Check all of the holes in your basket to see if you have something sticking/ protruding out of one of them. You might also have a hole that has been bent casuing a rough edge. Next pull back the edge of your boot (the gray ,rubber part in the front) Do you have any forighn objects in there? Finnaly for the washer, check the bottom of the door. A rough area on the bottom can cause the same problem. You might also want to check your dryer. Over time the seals (the gray rings in the front and back when you look in your dryer can be worn or have a forign object caught in them. Both will cause clothes to snag and tear.

Frigidaire Front Loader Ripping Clothes

Frigidaire washer sucks. I'm tired of this useless machine ripping my clothes. You need to change your bellows(boot) kits around the door on front load. I have changed this kit twice now and each time, I spent $200 in repair fees. I wished I never bought this washer. Will never recommend to anyone i know.
