Yes, that ribbon cable is the data-link between the circuit board in the base of the unit, and the upper circuit board controlling the button panel. If the lower part is free, reseat it - correct direction - in the main circuit board. If the upper part is free, you'll need to disassemble the upper unit to get access to where it fits. Be careful when pushing the ribbon cable back in - it's easily deformed. BTW, why did you want to open the radio?

Whirlpool quiet partners II normal light flashing

CHECKING KEYPAD OPERATION
A rapidly blinking LED over one of the keys of the keypad (or sometimes a "dead" keypad/console)
To determine if the control or keypad is faulty, do the following test:
1. Unplug dishwasher or disconnect power.
2. Open the dishwasher door.
3. Open console and disconnect the keypad ribbon connection from the control (at P1).
Make sure all other connections are made.
4. Put console back together. Do not close the dishwasher door.
5. Plug in dishwasher or reconnect power.
6. Wait 5 seconds.
7. Close dishwasher door.
8. Monitor the control's response:
If the control is OK (no longer sees shorts with the keypad unplugged),
it will respond by turning on a Drain Motor for 2 minutes.
Check and/or replace the keypad if the control responds OK.
If the control is not OK (still sees shorts with the keypad unplugged),
then the drain motor will NOT respond and will remain off.
If no response, replace the control.

My bose wave system is no responding to the remote. Anything I can do?

The only user serviceable part of this fine system is the battery in the remote. The battery used in most of these remotes is the "button" or "coin" type cell "CR-2032"You can find these at Walmart, Radio Shack, CVS etc. for just a few bucks. Bring the remote batteries with you to match to a replacement.

If that doesn't work, you may need a replacement remote or the radio may need repair.

Good luck!

The volume control on my Bose 38 lifestyle system will not adjust the system, with either the remote or the volume controls on on the console.

On a Bose 38, the volume will self adjust at start, and then you will be able to change volume using either radio remote, or buttons on main unit (the one with DVD).

If the unit is not responding , then there is a fault.

A fault where the Bose 38 is working (eg. you can swap from DVD to AUX on bose), but you cannot control volume (you do not see the values on main unit display) is rather unusual.

Ensure that you have correctly connected TV, receiver, or any other external device to the bose in Input, not in output from Bose.
If you have an HDTV, use the optical input on Bose, that is the only digital audio in on a Bose 38.

Check if the problem depends on connections, if it does not, let me know.

Bose 3-2-1 Remote Control stopped working

I purchased a LAZBOY universal remote (at Fred Meyers, on sale for $9.99) and after a bunch of research and trial-&-error, was able
program it with a code (1629) which works reasonably well with the
Bose 3-2-1.

I don't have all the system-level functions (which I never utilized anyway) but do have all the basics as far as power, volume, source, and CD/DVD control.

Bose Wave Radio (Made in China)

Whilst I can't supply that, i'm surprised you can't pick up the parts you need simply by calling Bose - anything external like wires, the screen, and the remote control can be bought from Bose.
Anything internal will need to be serviced and therefore is not available for customers, as if you get it wrong you will only come back to complain at the company.

Bose 321 Remote not working

Pull off the front panel, be carefull there is a ribbon attached. Detach the ribbon. There are 2 ribbons attached to the front panel, one that leads to the IR (remote sensor) and other for the controls on the top of the unit.

Most likely the ribbon that goes to the IR sensor detached itself, this is common if the unit is dropped etc. Insert the ribbons (2) re-attach the front panel and the remote should work fine. You'll notice some tape on the IR ribbon, I suggest using some stronger tape, BOSE tape thats not very good.

This happened to me on my 3-2-1 GS II system and fixed it.

Bose wave radio/cd often cd spins but does not play, sometines will correct if I turn unit off and on. HELP tHANKS

I've repaired about 10 type Bose AWRC3x (the radio/cd model with lift up lid and top controls). If the cd won't play or skips, try cleaning the lens VERY carefully with a cotton bud with some isopropyl alcohol. Let it dry then try again. This will help in about 1/3 of cases.

After that, a new laser unit is needed. They cost around 15 pounds,30 dollars, (Type SFP100s with 13 pin connector made by Sanyo). You need to have some electronics experience to take the case to bits to get the laser deck out, change the cd laser and reassemble. Basically, DISCONNECT THE POWER! Remove the 3 screws on top, turn over and carefully prise the front of the base away from the top cover with a table knife or similar. Lift off the top cover - be careful with the lid ribbon! The deck can be disconnected from its ribbon cable and wired connector very carefully. Take the deck to bits and fit the new laser head (take photos if you think it will help). Remember to unsolder the shorting 'blob' of solder which protects the new laser from static till its fitted.

On the bright side, there is no tracking etc to set up, that's all automatic so usually they work like new with a new laser fitted. I have to say this is the weakest feature on the Bose CD radio, the actual electronics rarely gives trouble.

Hope this helps Steve O'Donnell
