Hot tub won't turn on. It had been working fine since we took it over in April. After the long fourth of July weekend we turned off the main breaker in the basement, drained the hot tub, cleaned, filled back up with chemicals, and turned breaker back on. However it won't turn on, it will flash "- -" in the display. We looked at the main circuit board and the gfci and everything looks alright as far as we can tell. Any guidance would be helpful!

SOURCE: My hot tub still trips the breaker, and i replaced

If your hot tub is pulling more amps than amps sent your breaker box, you'll keep tripping the breaker. Check the rating on the hot tub and compare that to the breaker rating. You may need to uograde the wireing. Make sure the wire gauge is up to code.

SOURCE: Our hot tub keeps tripping the gfi breaker, but if

The GFI is sensing a fault, and tripping to protect you. If there is another GFI in the circuit somewhere then you could use that normal receptacle. I mean if there is a GFI in the main panel.

Check the heater. The heater is the most likely cause of tripping electric.

If you're not sure what you're doing, please contact someone who does. Electricity isn't something that should be played around with especially when in close proximity to water.

The topside controls aren't fused so the fuses wont be the cause.

It can only be either the PCB, the topside controls, or a bad connection at fault. Check that they are plugged in correctly, make sure that the PCB is configured correctly for your topside controls.

It's rare for both the main and auxilary topside controls to fail. You can try plugging in another main topside control without fully installing it... at least you can then return it (ask whether or not return are accepted, I don't personally accept any returns if parts are specially ordered) if it doesn't cure the problem.

Ian.

What's youI just wired in my J-300 Jacuzzi hot tub. The GFI trips every time I reset it. I took the GFI out of the equation and the tub runs fine, does not trip the breaker at the main breaker box

#1. DO NOT GET INTO TUB FULL OF WATER WITH A GROUND FAULT.
2. There is a short. You need to get multimeter and start checking each part for current running to ground wire.
3) Power is ON. Connect power without GFCI.
4) Tape tester leads to wood sticks to keep hands away from power.
5) Do not touch anything directly or you will become the ground rod.
6) Ground wire must be present, and bonded back to main panel box.
7) Do not sit or touch directly on cement or bare ground. Do not touch or lean into anything made of metal.
8) Body and parts must be on sheet of plywood, or similar non-conductive dry surface.
9) Test each part with spa, but also test electric line coming from main box.
10) GFCI will also trip with any fault detected on line. So the wire coming to spa may have the fault.
11) Add a new dedicated line from main box to spa.

My dryer had a broken belt so I installed a new one. According to the directions I could find online, it said to install the belt with the smooth side against the drum. Now that the belt is installed the...

If you have the belt down in the groove on the tub it won't work. The belt slick side goes to the drum and goes back like this:

I recently worked on one of these and took photos of the repair:

Goodman is are decent (builders grade) equipment. Not as good as Trane or Carrier but if it's installed correctly it should be fine. Goodman is mainly a residential brand but they do make some light commercial equipment which again is decent as long as it is put in correctly.

I have a Whirlpool 30 gal. electric water heater. Model E1F30HD035V, product # 0826237, dual element. It is in a seasonal home. Last weekend June 28 it worked fine. This weekend July 4th, it won't heat. I...

It is not unusual for an element to fail when turned on after non-use.
Turn off the power, and check the electrical resistance of each element. If either is infinite, then it needs to be replaced. Also, if only one is bad, then it can cause the whole unit to malfunction and not heat the water.
