Question about HP Pavilion F1703 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

Flashing monitor My HP Pavilion monitor keeps flashing on and off. The cord checks out fine with other monitors, as does the video card. And the computer is fine. It acts like it needs to be reset or something, but I can find no reset button. Any ideas?

Sounds like the power supply can't keep up with the demand. It starts to work and then shuts off and then right back on repetedly? Probably bad electrolytic capacitors in the power supply, a pretty easy fix if you can identify which ones are bad and have a soldering iron with the right type of solder and some soldering skills. Good Luck

Try using a different monitor to check if it is your monitor that is indeed bad.

Also, try using a different cable if possible.

If the computer is at fault (different monitor didn't work either) then you can try installing a graphics card.

Look inside your computer and see if a slot for a graphics card is there. This will be a single unique slot unliek the others in the system.

The video above shows how to choose and install a video card.

I recommend Newegg.com for purchasing

I have an hp pavilion a720n desktop with an hp pavilion mx70 monitor and windows xp home. There is a problem with the color displayed on the monitor. I see mainly black and white, but blue shows up fine....

First of all you can check the computer by connecting another monitor to it to see if the problem goes away...if so then the problem would be in the monitor. If not , then I would try to change the video grafics card in the computer(assuming you don't have built in video). If you have built in video on the mother board then you will either need to replace the motherboard or disable the onboard video and install a video card

Just moved and trying to set up the computer. Monitor light keeps flashing with a blank screen

Check that the "data" cable between the monitor and your computer's video-card is tightly connected at both ends.

No "signal" reaching the monitor means nothing on the screen.

I have an hp pavilion computer it turns on fine but my monitor is not displaying anything

Before you turn the power onto the computer make sure you have the monitor on. When you power the computer up you should see a very quick flash as the computer boots up. If you don't your monitor is either bad or your video card. Make sure the monitor is plugged in tightly into the adapter that it fits into.

I just sent my son one of our older computers (2004) with a hp pavilion f1903 monitor - he hooked up the computer and monitor but the monitor seems to be stuck in sleep mode - what are we doing wrong ?

He may need to open the casing to make sure the video card is firmly in place. Turn the power off, unplug, press the power button to get rid of any extra juice. Make sure you're grounded and open the left side, computer front is facing you, and look inside.
Look where the monitor cord attaches, is the card firmly in it's slot? If it is, place the card in another slot of the same size, screw the card in place, close the casing, plug it in and see what happens. If it STILL won't run then I think the video card or the monitor may have been damaged.
If there is no video card then it may be the monitor was damaged.
There are other lengthier routes to try, but this is a simpler way to see what is what.

This usually means that it is not getting a video signal. Try checking the connections and make sure your video card is seated properly in the computer.

My HP Pavillion F1503 15 inch flat screen monitor has all different color lines on it when I plug it in and it wont turn on??

Have you tried the monitor on another computer? If it works on another computer but just not this one, the first thing I would check would be the video card drivers. If those are fine, you could have a bad video card.

I have my HP Pavilion hooked up to my new Acer al2216W monitor. The image comes up on the monitor but keeps flashing on and off constantly. How do I make the screen stay on?

Video Card problem. This can be caused by your onboard video card or a separate video card installed on your AGP or PCIE slot. Either way, try changing your display settings first. Set it at a lower or higher refresh rate and lower or higher bit and resolution settings.
