Hey. I can't figure out how to turn OFF the green input labels that appear on the top left of the screen. I can change them from VIDEO 1 to LD, etc., but can't get them to go away. Can I do this without the original remote? It's gone.

You may have a broken solder connection at the video input jack that is if you are sure the TV is switched to the correct input. Make sure the label on the input you are using matches to the display on the TV. Thanks for using fixya.
If there is no "input video" button on the control panel of this series of set, as like the older Sony sets had, you need to order the original remote from the Sony service center, or Sony parts directly. Universal remotes (any that I know of) will not access this menu in your Sony set.
It is normal for VIDEO 3 to be displayed in the upper left of the picture if there is no signal present at the INPUT 3 jacks. This is to let you know that although the picture is black and there is no sound, the TV is still on. If you have a good signal at INPUT 3 and the VIDEO 3 stays on the screen, take the Sony remote, point it at the TV and press the DISPLAY button until you see "DISPLAY OFF" on the screen. About 3 seconds later, the words should vanish.
You cannot without the original remote unit. Dont try to get a cheap universal remoter as that will not work as well. To get the original remote, go to http://rwww.remotes.comor call 1-800-remotes and order the original remote. you will not only be able to get rid of the channelk label, you will get full use of the tv functions. Good Luck
