The maximum RAM or memory that this MOBO can supports is up to 2 GIG so you can go ahead upgrade the memory , check also this link for the information http://www.dealtime.co.uk/xPF-AOpen-AOPEN-MK77M-II-VIA-KM266-CHIPSET-ULTRA-ATA133-MICRO-ATX-FORM-FACTOR-1xAGP-4X-3xPCI-1xCNR-2xDDR-W-INTEGRATED-VGA-LAN-USB-2-0-AUDIO

With many mobos (motherboards) you must place a single stick in a certain slot in order for the mobo to post. In my Asrock it is the #2 slot for a single stick. If I put it in the other slot the computer will not post. Try moving your stick to the other slot and reboot.

I have 2 slots, currently only one is in use, it has 512 DDR 400 MHz PC 3200U. Can I use both slots and how much RAM will my SiS 963Lua support? Thanks. Richard

Hey Richard, your board has 2 x 184 DIMM slots, that are both usable, with a maximum capacity of 2GB, supported RAM types are 333MHz, and 266MHz..

Hope this is what you are looking for,

Cheers,

Hangs on testing base n extended memory

Hi,

appears to be a RAM/Memory Problem.
Or Corrupt Bios.
Try swapping The Memory to different Slots, or try 1 stick in Individual Memory Slots. Also Ensure the Board Has the Correct Ram Installed i.e DDR/DDR 2 et,c.

Memory installation

Most likely, it is a limitation of your motherboard. Not all motherboards or computers can physically read all types of memory or they may have memory limitations. For instance, I was working on an older Gateway this week. It had 2 memory slots but the maximum amount of memory the computer would recognize is 512 MB. Therefore, if I had put to 1 GB sticks in, provided the computer could use it, the maximum the computer would be able to see or use is 512 MB. In this instance, that is most likely the scenario. The best thing to do is to go to www.crucial.com and run the system scanner. It will tell you how many slots you have, what the maximum per slot capacity and the total capacity of your computer is.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya.
