LG 32 inch lcd tv. When you turn it on, the screen (no picture) looks like a shattered window. The set is not hooked up to cable, channels aren't set yet. I just bought the tv for my son.

You need to hook this set up to viewable source to verify if there is a defect.

Then select the source, and check for problems, then.

Is the set used or new?

My maxent TV has no picture and no sound

If an LCD TV has sound but no picture do the following:

Use the source button to ensure that source is not set to the wrong input.

Try unplugging power cord for ten minutes, to ensure it is not a setting problem.

Check all the video cables at the back of TV.

Check Light /Color settings.

If problem persist and does not depend on external receiver or settings, then it is likely an internal fault.

If it has sound but no picture then one of the following parts is faulty, and must be tested and replaced:

The inverter is the high voltage board that provides variable power to the backlight lamp. This is the most common. When inverter is faulty you can get no picture, or a very dim picture that can only be seen by pointing a torch light with a 45 degree angle on the LCD surface from very near distance.
The inverter must be tested by reading voltages with a multimeter.

The LCD ribbon cable/LCD display and connectors.
This is quite uncommon, but happens. If the TV had been hit or moved the LCD cable may have slipped out, or the LCD connector may be damaged.

The LCD controller board.
This is the board that controls the video signal, it is difficult to test, as there is need to read determined values on IC pins. To test this board you need to purchase a service manual and follow the troubleshooting diagrams on service manual.

Input/Output Signal boards.
This are the boards where you connect the video and audio cables, if a signal board is defective, then you may get no picture on particular inputs located on faulty board.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual.

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

Hi. I bought a new Samsung LCD Flat Panel TV, model LN52A630. I started playing with different settings and completely messed up, and i cannot set it back. Is there an option that i can use that resets all...

Most TVs have both a consumer menu system and a service menu system. Assuming you stayed in the consumer menus, there maybe a reset or defaults selection. Look around. If you don't find it, use google to locate a downloadable manual for your specific model. An occasional TV resets to default settings if you unplug it for 48 hours. Many have resets in the set menu when you program channels, parental control and time.

Bought a samsung lcd tv 450.. .need to use it as a monitor for my computer.. how do you set it up so it pulls up windows...

After connecting the TV to the computer using S-Video or HDMI cable, right click on your desktop and go to Graphic option or teh Nvidea control panel. From there select your TV which will be displayed in the window. You will get the display in your lcd TV. Let me know if it resolved because I also use the same connection at my home.

Thanks

I just bought the LG 47LC7DF tv. I would like your opinion on how to set up the tv with the best setting as far as contrast, color and brightness etc

As a rule of thumb, set your picture settings at there bare minimum which is comforttable to watch.

this is so that as the lcd ages, you can increase the settings to compensate - increasing the life of your lcd alot

Just purchased a Polaroid tlx-01911C, 19# LCD. I've hung it and attached it to cable using the diagram in the manual. However, I'm still getting a message of "No Signal" on a blue background...

You need to go in to the menu and change the tuner setting to cable. It should work then. Just bought this tv last week and encountered the same thing.

I( just bought a new lcd tv today and i cannot get the remote to work

Let's assume that the batteries are fresh and have been placed correctly within the remote. If that's the case, you'll need to address the manual that came with your set, and maybe even return the remote to where you got it. Oh yeah. Make sure that you have selected the correct device before pressing the other buttons...accordianman

Samsung 101cm lcd Mounting??

Yes they are the mounting holes but I would not trust a universal mount to hold an expensive TV set on a wall.
