If the belt has worked itself loose then more than likely its worn past tightning. I don't know what type of unit you have but I would try either taking off the back of the unit or turning the unit on its side to gain access.

If the belt is loose checck to see if there is PLAY on the bearings or the motor pulley . If not the belt must be replaced as it would have gone weak. Buy one size that fits just inside the faulty sample.. must not be too tight but with a slight play.

I believe the belt is loose from the drum. During the spin cycle the drum vibrates very hard and makes a lot of noice. Can I fix this.

Most front load washers don't use a belt.
The washer making a load noise in spin is most likely a bad rear bearing and a big job and expensive. If you want more info send me the model number.

Why does my alternator keep geting loose

The alternator is held in place by either 1 long bolt at the bottom or 2 bolts one for each mounting lug. It is adjusted by a slotted strap that has a bolt holding the alternator in place. If the alternator is coming loose all the time place a flat washer and a spring washer under the head of the bolt in the adjusting strap. The timing belt is a tooth belt and will not squeal but a loose drive belt for the alternator, .power steering or a/c will make a noise if not tensioned properly. Belts have to run at the top of the pulley and not on the bottom as this is an indication of worn pulleys or incorrect belt in use.

Why doesn't my washer spin out more water. After spinning cycle clothes is quite wet. Could it be a loose belt?

Their is no belt. The washer uses a double shafted motor which drives the pump on one end and the tranny on the other end. You must have a small item of clothing in the tub to pump hose. This washer is easy as pie to repair by anyone. Just a few inexpensive tools and you can fix this washer. Here is a link to 4 videos and a training manual. How it works: Direct drive washer

Is the motor supposed to not be fixed to tension

The motor is spring loaded to keep tention on the belt. The belt is designed to slip. When the washer is full of water the motor starts at 1725 RPM and the belt is a little loose. As the drum empties its water the belt gets tighter and the speed picks up to spin the water out of the cloths. If the cloths are not comming out as dry as they should, replace the belt. As the belt starts to wear it becomes shiny and doesn't grip the pully properly and slips too much.
I hope this helps.

Maytag neptune washer sounds like tornado during spin cycle

Hi!

The reason of this noise is from loose lower front weight mounting bolts or a loose bolt securing
the driven pulley. Check the motor adjustment bolt for tightness. The noise could be from a loose wire harness, plastic purse-lock wire harness retainer on upper hose hitting the top cover or a plastic injection mold standoff on the outer tub bearing housing may possibly be interfering with the driven pulley. Also, check the drive belt for a weak spot on the belt. Ussually felt on the backside of the belt as a "flat" spot. Check the belt for a weak seam and replace it.

Loose Belt Drive

Remove the rear cover on the unit and see if the belt is loose. It should not stretch more than 3/4" when you pull on it. There may be an adjusting bolt on the motor to tighten the belt. Disconnect power before working on the unit!! You should have an owners manual for this unit. Check it for further information.

How do I change the washer belt on a Maytag Washer #LAT2500AAE

I figured out that the belt went on the bottom of the dryer. It was actually very easy to fix once I realized where the belt went. I made the mistake of opening the front cover of the washer first, which is why I did not see where to put the belt. Apparently, if the washer is not level (since I had too much for a load and it caused the washer to pull out from the wall), the belt shook itself loose.
