Whirlpool "Duet" Frontloader washer

We have a front loading Duet that is 4 years old, and up until now has worked flawlessly. Over the last couple of days, it seems the end of cycle spin would not completely spin off the water, and when the load was finished, the clothes would still be wet. Went out to look at the washer this morning (after a day of non-use) and discovered that the tub was nearly full of water to the point of exiting over the door threshold. So... I checked the drain... and no back flow from there (the water was fresh), and I don't think it has anything to do with the water pump, but I did notice that the water supply point inside the door showed evidence of water streaming in albeit at a slow rate. My guess is that there is some kind of water control valve, that provides a pre-determined amount of water to each cycle, that has failed. Please advise. Thanks!

Thanks for responding, and based on what information I provided, I'm grateful that I'm at least on track. May I ask one additional question? How likely is it that there may be some other key piece of hardware that has failed thereby giving the same sort of indicators? And do I really need factory service??! Or was this more of a solicitation than a solution? Regardless... your time investment is duly noted. Thanks again.

I too have recently run into the same problem. My Duet is only 3 years old and I've had nothing but praises for this wonderful appliance! Imagine my surprise yesterday when I opened the door to the washer and found water sitting in the drum after a day of non-use. As mentioned, the water was clean and I decided to check the detergent/Bleach dispenser. I noticed that water was streaming from the back side of the wall at a slow pace but leakig nonetheless. Thanks for your suggestion as I will be contacting someone locally for service. Any idea how much the replacement part cost??

The freshwater leak is a simple fix. After plugging off the wall, check the inlet water valve electric connection to see the harness has come loose. If there is no problem there you only have the change the inlet valve which you can do yourself. Check model number and try the sites below for spares. (which is good)

I have a whirlpool duet frontloader. Last week I noticed that it would stop in mid cycle and not finish. I would start the cycle over to finish the cycle and it worked a couple of times and now it will...

I believe you have a drain pump issue. Try removing the bottom front panel on your washer ,three small screws right at floor level. the drain pump will be right their in the middle up front.. lay down some towels or a pie pan to catch some water, remove the cap on the end of the drain pump. Clean out the cap/strainer and remove any visible gook in the pump, line up the marks on the cap and pump and reinstall..hopefully it was full of junk and your ok now, sometimes though the impeller in the pump gets damaged and it will run but not pump even if you have to replace its an easy fix Good Luck

Whirlpool Duet frontloader only washes with hot water. Cold water is turned on and the button for cold is lit. Any help?

The cold water control valve may be bad. Switch the hoses to test the control valve. The valve is not too expensive, and should not be too much trouble to change. If your hoses are over five years old, replace them too, a burst hose is an awful thing.

Our wash machine will not spin after draining the water.

if this is really the old 9150 version then f21 is a ccu communication error with user interface. likely ccu is bad. 5d is not a error code.
bearings will make noise when out. unplug wait 1 min the reconnect power. If this doesnt work open top cover and check connections on ccu in rear. (unplug and replug). then buy new control. if your machine is newer duet (wfwxxxx) then f21 is different. (pressure sw) tech sheet on bottom front cover.
