I have a Fisher and Paykel E442B upside down, which is a very similar model, and I just fixed the same problem (temperature was around -4C even though I set the fridge temperature as warm as possible).

The cause of my problem was excessive ice build up on the side of the evaporator coil (which is in the back of the freezer compartment behind the rear plastic panel). I had the same problem around a year or so ago, so I expect it to be a regular occurence. To defrost the coil, I removed all the drawers in the freezer, and the plastic insert by pulling out the bottom of the panel out and rotating it upwards until it released at the top. There are a couple of snap-in tabs holding the panel in, so with a bit of pulling they released. The tabs are either side of the slot at the bottom of the panel.

I then supported the panel horizontally on the top shelf so that I didn't have to disconnect the thermostat wire and the circulating fan wire.
52de81a.jpg With a small fan heater set on low, aimed roughly at the ice buildup on the left hand side of the evaporator coil, I defrosted the ice built up. This took around 2 hours or so. Then put it all back together and it worked fine.

I'm not sure why the ice build up on the side caused the problem, but presumably it interferes with the proper flow of cold air to the fridge compartment.

If you don't seem to have ice build up like I did, then it could be a thermostat problem, or a fan problem (a symptom of which would be fridge being colder at the bottom than at the top).

Thanks, this was helpful. My coils were clear, but the silver drip tray under the coils was full of ice. I think the drain had blocked in the evaporation tray end. The defrost did the job, the only trouble I had was to remove the top drawer runners as these were "glued" in place with some sticky food residue. Once these were out, the back panel came out quite easily and gave good access. All up about a 1 hour job, including defrost time and a complete clean. Thanks.

Try to pull it a bit more back from the wall and see if that makes a difference Commercial Combined Catering

Ice build up is due to gas blokage or not enough gas

Why would my fridge freezer fridge freeze the contents, could the temperature in my kitchen be a factor?

Outside temp does not influence the temp inside the freezer. I have two settings in my fridge. One in the refrigerator and one in the freezer part. I might be mistaken about this, but one setting helps with the other. As in, there aren't two separate condensers for each compartment (top and bottom) It's kind of like your heater and cooler in the car. It deflects the air from one part into the other. Usually the one in the fridge part will be set at no more than 3 after initial set up. I have a thermometer for each compartment that tells me what it is. Once set you shouldn't have to mess with it. The other thing you probably need to do is, pull it out from the wall and vacuum the motor and condenser. Also get the coils that help produce the cooling liquid to the unit. (Freon) I'm not sure I helped, but give my ideas a try,.

The freezer works well but the fridge is not cooling.

Classic symptom of: the connection passageway between the freezer and the fridge compartment
has closed off - usually due to ice buildup - or something clogging/blocking the passageway.
Your Refrigerator works by releasing cold air into only the freezer, then this cold air passes thru
a passageway into the fridge compartment to cold (but not freeze) the fridge compartment contents.
If this passageway is blocked, then just the freezer works, and cold air never makes it into the
fridge compartment. In the old days, you'd be told to defrost your freezer, since the blockage
was ALWAYS caused by frost buildup. Today, we have frost-free freezers, and your freezer may
simply have too much stuff inside - there has to be some room to allow some air flow around
items in the freezer, and whichever item is blocking the air passage to the fridge compartment -
just move it away from the passageway opening.

Either the thermostat is set to high or you need to replace the thermostat.adjust it to 1/2 way position position and if temp is to cold and it doesnt want to switch off, it means the thermostat is faulty.

Fridge of my Hotpoint FFA90 fridge-freezer freezes

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Why does it freeze inside the fridge and the some of the contents are frozen, the therm temp is at 1

theres several reasons for that! #1 is that the vent's inside the box are not! closing all the way off with the temp controller set at #1 #2 is that most units with icemakers and other accessories tend to get full of ice which inturns allows the storage of ice in the tray/box to freeze!! the walls between the freezer and fridge side! due to poor insulation in the box it's self and a flaw in design. its like setting a empty pan on a block of ice then when you feel inside the pan after a while its cold as the outside where the ice is? follow me so far? i knows its a pain but the way these newer units are made there basically made to sell! there is 2 things you cna do! here #1 is put a new temp control in it and number 3 keep the ice tray half empty or more till you need ice

Fridge keeps on freezing everything inside of it

This refrigerator only has one thermostat located in the fresh food compartment it is designed to activate the sealed system (cooling) until it reaches approximately 37 deg f in the fresh food compartment. The damper controls how fast the cold air can move from the freezer compartment to the fresh food compartment. Allowing you to control the temp in the freezer by controlling the flow of cold air to the thermostat.

You have one of two problems.
#1 your thermostat is no longer opening when it achieves set temp. fix = replace thermostat pn 61005798 $35
#2 your damper arm or assemblie has broken. Fix = Replace damper or broken arm and actuator.
damper assembly pn12001377 $44
damper actuator pn 61002000 $2
damper arm pn 61001999 $2

My LG B197WV has a problem with temp controls is min the lowest temp and max the highest temp or is max the max coldness? everything keeps freezing in the fridge and its set on 3 Help please

1 is the lowest setting. And if you want to make it really cold in your LG then turn it to the highest number. Might back off the fridge setting to 2. Do you have two t-stat's one for freezer and one for fresh food compartment?
