    Thanks for the advice, we finally got it working, but the quality could be improved, so will try your suggestions which sound like good advice, I was thinking of the memory upgrade as possibility already.

Hi menz44,

Here are some things to consider:

  • perform disk cleanup and defrag
  • ad more memory
  • upgrade to a better video adapter/card
  • adjust your system performance - to use less memory.
  • Remove temp files and cookies from IE.

try again later - there may be a network outage
- there may be congestion - too many people call at the same time for switching network or available radio channels to cope.

leave a message with the voice mail hopefully it diverts to it - may not be an option.

send an sms message to your sister from your mobile for when the network becomes available .

My internet connection is ok but when i sign on to messenger and start video call then my connection starts to slow down causing the sound to become like robot and the video on the other end freezez up


You didn’t mention if you’re using WIFI or not? If you are using wireless, try moving closer to the router for a better signal or use a cable. This is a bandwidth issue as video and voice are intolerant to delay so you get dropped packets and reduced call quality. If the problem is on your LAN then it could be solved by getting a router with higher throughput or using a wired scenario. Alternatively, if the problem is on the WAN a higher broadband speed may be appropriate.
Quality of service issues are difficult to solve on home networks because there is not normally any method of changing the priority of traffic.

If you have a very slow speed of internet connection try to stop other things like downloading large files so that you can watch the YouTube video very smoothly but if it's the same then that's the time you reduce the quality of the video in the control or subscribe much faster speed of internet connection just contact your provider.

After a while the webcamera is disconneted from the network and it is unreachable


Make sure the router is located near to the camera. This problem may also be caused by too high traffic. Try to reduce the resolution or quality size of your video. This will reduce the bandwidth requirements and will prevent this from happening

Video quality suddenly reduced


That means you have mistakenly changed it from Standared Mode  to Compact Mode ..
  1. Standared Mode: Hi Quality with the (Video Camera Symbol)
  2. Compact Mode: Low Quality with the (Vidoe Camera + Envelope Letter Symbol)
The Solution: Rotate the Wheel to toggle between these 2 Modes

Streaming audio/video quality can be affected by connection rate and Internet congestion. Many types of interruptions between your computer, your player, your computer's OS, your local network, your ISP and a streaming server can exist and cause trouble....
When you listen to the live audio/video stream, the sound or video skips, cuts out or buffers if the player doesn't have enough network bandwidth, it will buffer. Try increasing your player's buffering setting.Also:
  • Make sure you are choosing the appropriate bandwidth version of a media stream based on your Internet connection.
  • Make sure you are choosing the appropriate bandwidth settings in an Internet media player or streaming audio/video recorder.
  • Make sure NOT to download applications or files while watching/listening to media streams. Your Internet connection is shared between all open applications including your web-browser, your download manager and your streaming player. Closing applications that use your Internet connection simultaneously with your streaming player may reduce buffering.
  • Close other unnecessary applications that may be open on your computer. Reboot your computer. If you have lots of other programs open, they may be using too much processor time and/or RAM for the player to work properly.
  • Make sure your Internet connection is fast enough to reliably listen to streaming audio and/or watch streaming video online. High speed Internet connection is recommended.
  • Make sure your computer is fast enough. If your computer is old, it might be too slow to play an audio/video stream regardless of what else it's doing.
