Screen blank

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture okay! the inverter board just below the laptop screen is bad, or the backlight behind the display is faulty, but if both show the same symptom it is the video graphics card that is the problem normally built into the motherboard.

I have dropped the computer.

Hook a spare monitor to the video output jack, if it works! it means the inverter board is damaged or lead disconnected, or the backlight behind the LCD is not working. Now if the monitor has the same symptom, it indicates a bad video graphics card normally built into the motherboard.

Nothing comes up on the monitor

Hi there,
Please check if there is power to the system.
Is this a laptop or desktop?
If it's laptop see if any light turns on in the computer and or if you can connect it to an external monitor to check if the problem is the LCD display or the Video Graphics Adapter.
If it's a desktop see if there's power to the monitor and to the system.
Do you seea any message like no signal or output out of range or is the monitor totally blank?
If you can provide additional information like if it's a desktop or a laptop, when was the last time it worked if there are any indicator of power coming to the system.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Most laptops have a "toggle":
* output video only to internal LCD screen,
* output video only to external HDMI port,
* output video to both internal & external.

Set the "toggle" to the best value.

Turn on get blank screen VGN-FJ270

Hook an external monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop, If okay! problem is the computer display screen, caused by a bad inverter board, or the back light behind the LCD screen. If both displays show the same issue, then it is the video graphics card that is part of the motherboard. I suggest a technician to take it further with an estimate in mind.

Hi, my hp compaq nc6220 switches on but the screen wont light up

Hook a external monitor to the video output on the back of the laptop, if monitor works, it means that the laptop screen has a bad inverter board or back light issue. If the monitor has a blank screen like the laptop, the video graphics card is bad, or you have motherboard problems, suggest a computer tech.

No output from graphic card

The video output on many portable computers toggles off and on with one of the function keys. Look for a function key with the image of a monitor on it, then hold down the Alt key and push the function key once or twice. It usually has several choices that you rotate through - computer monitor only, video out only (your screen goes blank) and both screen and video out.

Laptop screen is blank

There could be a screen fault or the connection to the motherboard is damaged, but try the driver first to see if it is corrupt. Go to My computer>right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look down the list for graphics adapter, click on the '+' sign and right click on your controller and select uninstal. Re boot your pc and hopefully your screen is working again, if not it is more serious and needs expert referal.
