Oven door locked and stove

-   Cannot close oven door because lock is out. Oven will work with door open but obviously don't want to use when you can't close the door....I had been baking something, went to pull door open and it wouldn't open so tried again, wouldn't open, then pulled really hard it opened but now will not close....lock is too far to right and hits beside slot instead of into slot.-   suehlee

-   After cleaning the lock stays on and I cannot open the oven door

-   After self-cleaning and 24 hour cool down, the door to my 20 + year old Tappan electric range remains locked. The lock/unlock lever is located in the center front of the range in the space between the surface cover and the oven door handle. I do not know the model as I cannot move the stove away from the wall to check the manufacturer information. I cannot find the user instruction manual that came with the stove. Can you help?
