This can be caused by virus or other malicious programs on your pc. Try to run a virus check to scan for infection. Check your pc's memory as well and you can consider adding more memory for better performance. You can reset the hard drive, I think ur referring to formatting it and reinstalling your OS, that is one of your option but I highly suggest that you try the steps that I gave you first.

your System may be slow due to following reason
- Missing Windows updates or outdated drivers
- Not enough hard drive space, too many unused programs
- Left over programs, old cached and temporary files

- Too many programs running at startup or in the background
- Data Corruption, hard disk fragmentation
So Follow these steps to fix computer problem::
- Delete all the temp files
- Remove unused programs
- install latest drivers from the manufacturer site
- Install and run antispyware software
- Free up wasted space with Disk Cleanup tool
- Defragment your hard disk drive
If you are unable to perform above tasks then use a single utility tool like PC Fresher that will fix windows errors that cause of system slow

My system is running slow

Slow computer If you have a virus program installed, it is most likely is running a scan on your hard disk. It can slow down your computer especially if you have a large hard drive. After scanning is completed then the computer will be faster.
To make your computer (hard disk) lean and mean, uninstall any programs you do not use.
Also you need to maintain your hard disk by running Disk Cleanup this will remove old temp files and old compressed files etc.
This will reduce the number of files the virus scanner has to scan. Plus running Defrag. this makes your files contiguous so the system can access files off the hard drive quicker because it does not work as hard.. Disk Cleanup and Defrag should be carried out at least once a month.
If you have 512Mb of RAM installed then installing more RAM will speed up your computer. After installing your graphics card, you may need to disable the built-in graphics card in the BIOS for the new graphics card to work properly.

My notebook is very slow & on going unsolved problems,i was looking deleting divers and resetting notebook is this correct & how do i go about this.ive not tried to fix anything as yet,ive backed...

First of all, check the free space on your hard drive, if it is showing as almost full, this will be slowing down your computer. Use the maintenance command under properties to delete and clean up all dead data (cookies etc)

After that, delete the rubbishware that you do not use. I suggest you download this application to do this with
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Now see if this improves the problems, if not and you are showing a decent amount of hard drive space, I suggest you run a command line virus scan and check for viruses and malware

I suggest this:
http://www.freedrweb.com/cureit/?lng=en
Run this in safe mode, allow 1 hours for it to scan and then do a deeper scan by setting the scan to C:/

After the scan has been completed, reboot and back in my computer, go to the C drive, properties and "check volume for errors"

How do I erase all info on my computer I am getting a new computer and am donating old one, do not want any personal info left on computer

You need to format the hard drive(s).

Right click on the hard drive in 'My Computer' and select 'Format'. This will erase all data on the hard drive. Note, however, that this will also remove the operating system (Windows?) and make the computer inoperable until a fresh operating system is installed.

If you wish to leave the operating system intact you will need to delete all your data folders and files and then empty the recycle bin. This method is not as secure as a format, as the files will actually still exist but only recoverable with specialist software.

Want to delete philips fun cam

Try opening task manager (control, alt, delete) and stopping this program before you delete it. Subsequently, you can go to "My Computer" or "Computer" in Vista, then to your hard drive and delete the program from there. I've done this with many hard to remove programs, including spyware.

I cant get factory settings on my computer My hard drive wont work properly Ihavent got any memory.Computer very slow Please explain in laymans terms Obliged

1. Factory settings on computer.
There really isn't "factory settings" to reset. Well it isn't simple as that. There is the BIOS which can be reset to "default settings" for the BIOS. Also most brand name computers come with a recovery feature, in which you can recovery/restore the computer back to original factory defaults with original software all installed. Therefore the computer's operating system (usually windows) will be running with the programs like it would run if you were to buy the same new laptop.

2. Hard drive won't work properly.
You can give the hard drive a test using the hard drive's company's hard drive testing software which can be download from their site. The software would test the hard drive to make sure nothing physical is wrong and the hard drive is functioning like normal.

3. Haven't got any memory. Computer very slow.
You can always buy more memory. If windows says it's running out of memory. That means there is too many software running in the background.

Comment if you want more explained.
