Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Panasonic Model # PT52DL52 52 " HDTV DLP (2003). Working fine and all of a sudden heard a pop and TV quit. It's not the bulb since fairly new and the bulp idiot light is not on. I think it may be the color wheel motor and would welcome any suggestions.

Remove the lamp and look into the left side of that compartment to see if you can find glass/color wheel bits and pieces. I just recently had this happen and when I turn on the tv the red power on indicator blinks twice. Check to see if you have power to the tv

Sounds like your bulb blew. Here is a link to a very good priced replacement bulb with housing . These are very simple to change yourself. http://www.projectorlampsworld.com/projector-manual/mitsubishi-wd-82837.html
also, here is a link to a video showing how easy it is. They are made to be replaced by the consumer.
How to replace the lamp in your Mitsubishi TV: http://youtu.be/_ONPuB5L-x4
Note, your bulb assembly may vary slightly from the one in the video, but it should come out and go in the same way.
You will need a plastic grocery bag or small garbage bag, some rubber, or latex, or clean cloth gloves, and a medium phillips screwdriver.
Good luck!

HEARD LOUD POP NOISE DLP TV DOES NOT WORK

Following up on my Feb 7 post. My new lamp arrived, and I replaced it and it works great. The old lamp had many shards of glass come out of it. It was tore up. I saved some money buy purchasing just the lamp and not the cartridge. It's a little bit more work to take apart, but saves money. Mitsubishi wanted $289 for the lamp replacement kit. I got a lamp for $114. TV is working just fine now!

Panasonic DLP

If it has "Popped" then I would expect a rather catastrophic failure, and Lamps don't go "Pop.. they just fail more likely a Capacitor, Resistor, maybe even a semiconductor... so it's off to a reputable repairman get a "quote" and proceed from there.

Panssonic PT50DL54 DLP Lamp Replacement

Webman,

I own the same television, however, I am not a technician. The lamp housing unit is in the front of the television. Pop off the plastic grill and remove the screw on left side. Access to the bulb is there. Replacing the bulb is quite simple.

Good luck!
