It is complicated in that you have to unscrew just about the entire case just to get to the motherboard connection for the lcd, but more or less straight forward. Just don't lose the screws or put them back in the wrong holes. I found a number of replacement screens on ebay.
After many hours of research, I was able to fix the missing AV5 channel. I had to access the service menu using code 062596 and the Status/Info button on the Philips remote. There was an error message that had to be cleared and then AV5 needed to be turned on in the options menu. While I was in there, I also turned on the WSCR option, giving me two additional wide screen aspect settings that had also disappeared. I advise you not to go into the service menu unless you do your homework and document each setting before you make changes. Good Luck!
I just brought a philips 42 flat screen and i was told that it had
a 2 pixel wide line going down the right center of the tv.
is this bad and or can this be fixed. Thanks!
Yes you can. This TV has both VGA-In and component in support. The only thing you need to change is the input you're using with your remote control. As easy as changing the channel!
You have a bad connection on the CRT board thats mounted on the end of the picture tube it sounds like, or the socket on that board that plugs into the TV set is intermittant or has a bad solder connection on it. Good Luck
