Fuel pressure should not drop more than 5 PSI in 24 hours, the symptom you have is more than one issue, first verify the system holds fuel pressure over night, the pressure regulator will not cause this issue, the check valve built into the fuel pump will. On to the dieing concern, clean the idle speed control air bypass valve and the throttle valve with throttle body cleaner spray with the engine running at high idle, spray in at least 1/2 can of the cleaner, next disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then drive for 2 days under varying conditions to "relearn the idle strategy".
