My KD-NX5000 has suddenly stopped playing all audio sources. CD's or DVD's start up and the timer shows that CD is playing but there's just no sound. The sat nav works as it should. Haven't changed any settings and the unit is not muted. This started as a periodic problem a few days ago but now it seems to be permanent. What can I do?

The JVC KD-G421 only shows the option to change EXT IN from the CD changer to EXT IN when the current source is FM, AM or Disc . Assuming the J-Link cable that you added is the KS-U57 or KD-US58, the unit is still looking for (and not finding) the CD changer. Press the SRC button repeatedly until you get to FM or AM. (Disc will only show if there is a CD in the CD slot.) Then try pressing and holding Sel. Use the fast forward/up or fast reverse/down to get to EXT IN on the display. Then turn the tuning knob until EXT IN is selected. Press Sel again to save the setting. Now see if the EXT IN is listed when you press the SRC button. My jvc kd-r256 faceplate has all of a sudden stopped working and I can turn it from CD and have tried resetting the unit but still nothing??

Sounds like CD mechanism failure. Did some sticker or anything went inside? Any way, need service.

Right click the volume control - select open - this will open a larger volume control showing the volumes for each type of sound. Make sure none of the sliders are muted or low.

I had the same problem, where the Sat radio, the bluetooth and the ipod were all non-functional. Turns out, they all go through one central hook-up, so you have to make sure that connection is good.

When mine did not show up or function, I looked at the install under the foot board of the front passenger seat that the installer did, and nothing looked out of whack. Upon closer inspection, one of the cables was had been pressed out of it's proper place and loosened enough to cause a bad connection.

I don't care for the install, but there was no problem with the equipment, so check all of your connections. Even to the point of pulling them out and reconnecting them to see if that fixes the problem.

The dual zone control on the KD-AVX1 is only for playback of two seperate devices.For example an audio cd or dvd in the head unit is played through the front speakers and an external device like an i-pod,cd changer or any other AV device will play through the rear speakers.Either way you need an external audio or AV device for the dual zone to work.I hope this helps..
