For the Kensington Wireless Mouse 72214. Press the scroll wheel and the inset button on the bottom at the same time. This turns it on and off.
Press the inset button and the button on the end of the USB receiver at the same time and you will connect to the computer for use.

Thank you, I realize you posted this a long time ago but I just borrowed this mouse from my husband & Kensington no longer has any info on their site. Your directions helped me to connect it. Thanks again.

How do i put my optical wireless mini mouse 72214 on discover mode

Hello figueroajose,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

Your answer is, that as soon as you turn your mouse off and then back on, it enters discovery mode. The mouse has to be setup in your particular Opertaing System though, and that part you did not list here.

Have a great day!

Kensington wireless mouse doesn't work on Mac laptop.

Kensington wireless mouse is compatible with this system:

PC-Windows® 98, Me, 2000, or XP with USB port
USB Macintosh® with OS 10.1.5 or later
USB Macintosh® with OS 8 and 9 device will only function as a 1-button mouse

If you buy this item you have a disk utility on it and provide the software to run on the system. If not you can download it at this site: http://us.kensington.com/html/4398.html

Mouse does not move cursor -Kensington mouse and latitude laptop

I was having the same problem on Windows 7 and thought it might be a software issue. But then I found an online manual for the Kensington 72214 and got the solution.
You need to make sure to establish a wireless connection between the mouse and the USB receiver by first pressing the connect button on the end of the USB stick and then pressing the connect button on the bottom of the mouse. It is not simultaneous - do step one then two. This also has to be done any time your replace the batteries.
Here is the manual: http://files.acco.com/KENSINGTON/K72214/K72214-4697.pdf

How to install batteries on kensington wireless mouse 72214

Normal 0 If the mouse doesn't have a little door to open on the bottom, then try this.
Just behind the Left and Right keys where your hand rests, apply firm pressure down on the cover and slide to the rear. Some mouse manufactures have used this type of access to replace the batteries.
Hope this helps. Bud

I have a Kensington Model K72214 Mouse. The dial does not work properly: instead of scrolling it spins. Also I am wondering where the on/off switch is on this.
