Hi ! first make sure that LAN driver/ internet controller is installed in you win7 laptop. post your computer discription ; model and brand so anyone who see it will give you a link to your LAN driver.

The j is the drive letter that your laptop is expecting the cd drive to be and of course it is not. Go into the bios and select it to boot from the cd drive instead of the hard drive and try again. if it boots correctly from the cd the when you get the option to install windows make sure you delete the partition that windows was on. In fact delete all the partitons asyou have the cd's providing you do not have a data drive with all your info on it.
use these steps: 1- reinstall your operating system (OS). 2- after the OS installed , download and install a powerful anti virus(with latest updates) (like NOD32 ANTI Virus or Kaspersky etc)
3- start a full scan (in anti virus options). 4- reinstall your OS again and enjoy fast speed. NOTE:always remember to use an updated anti virus on your Laptop. and if your laptop worked slow again use this way: 1- start "RUN" from start menu.(if you are using windows 7 go to accessories) 2- enter "msconfig". 3- go to startup tab. 4- disable some installed software (like yahoo messenger or ID Manager etc) in start up but be careful not to disable windows applications.
Did you install a retail version of Windows? You should have used the restore disc that came with the laptop when you purchased it. That will solve driver related problems if your wireless card is okay. Check Device Manager if wireless card is still there. If you install a retail version of Windows, check the support website. Check the wireless card's manufacturer and contact that manufacturer so they can give you the driver for the wireless card. If you install a retail version of Windows, installing the driver from the support website might not work. If you used the recovery disc that came with the computer, it should work.
May be there was a virus in your sound drivers files, so norton automaticly removed it, try reinstalling your sound card drivers, also be sure to check their compatibitlity with your windows edition.
hi there, i had kind a same problem with u, the only difference is mine shows "connected" but i can't surf the internet when others in my network are doing just fine. 1st i tried to uninstall my LAN card driver and the reinstall it back. It worked, i can surf the internet but only for a few minutes. So i installed a firewall, in my case, i installed windows defender. After reinstalling my LAN card driver, i realized an unknown program tried to change some of my LAN driver files, so i denied the program access using windows defender. The problem solved !! Maybe it's a virus or spyware, i don't know because before installing windows defender, my avg and antispyware don't detect any virus/spyware. Hope this help, gud luck
