Question about Dell INSPIRON 6000 CENTRINO 1.7GHZ,512mb,40GB,DVDRW,XP (086216118098) PC Notebook
I started having the same problem. I think my system recovery information is stored internally on the computer but I do not remember what that restore key is. Can someone please remind me?
Thanks. I cannot get beyond the blue screen and safe mode or anything like that doesn't seem to work.
You can find the recovery sequence for your machine at Dell's support site. Bellow is a link to Dell support. Keep in mind that a blue screen indicates an operating system error, and may be caused by a hard drive failure. If this error is due to a hard drive failure the built in automated system recovery will not work, because it's stored on the hard drive.

Tips for a great answer:
An unmountable boot volume error means that the operating system cannot boot from the hard drive either because the boot files are corrupted, the hard drive is faulty or there is a problem with the cable connecting the hard drive to the computer. If you are booting your PC and come across a Blue Screen of Death stating UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME, don't despair.
You would need to repair the volume inorder to fix this issues.
