Question about Singer Sewing Machines
I have a singer prelude sewing machine that has not been used yet. Every time i begin to sew, the machine sews a few stitches, then stops. the material gets sucked down below and the thread bunches up behind it. Sometimes the needle gets stuck and won't come up unless I remove the bobbin. I tried resetting the upper tension and that of the bobbin casket. same problem. Sometimes it looks as though the upper thread is wrapping around the bobbin case. what can I do to fix this? thanks
Firstly make sure when you thread the machine you have the sewing foot in the up position or the thread will not sit in the tension and cause this problem. Also as it is a new machine it may have a small amount of oil from transport stopping the tension discs from separating. Try sliding the folded edge of a piece of fabric with the foot up through the tension unit it may clear the oil away.
