You need a boot disk on a 3.5 floppy disk. load this disk, then start the pc. it should start in ms-dos. at the prompt=type "format c:" it will ask a series of questions, answer to proceed. i.e. y/n to format your drive. know that you will loose everything already on your hard drive. then using the recovery disk. start the pc and continue to recover.
if you don't have a floppy or a boot disk i can possibly assist with these as well -just let me know
hope this helps

Hi,
Maybe its a Bad Update. try to Boot to Safemode first and Uninstall the Installed Service Pack 3
To get into the Windows XP Safe mode, as the computer is booting tap "F8 Key" Continuously which should bring up the "Windows Advanced Options Menu" as shown below. Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.
Then, uninstall Service Pack 3 Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs then look for Service Pack 3 and Uninstall.
If it did not work try Using System restore.
Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore.
Hope This Helps

Unplug all additional devices, printers, external drives, network cards, etc. If it won't boot into safe mode, you will need a windows disk. Load the windows disk, and if it's Vista or 7, get the advanced repair options, and do a system restore. If it's XP, just do the computer repair. Windows vista also has a startup repair you can run from the Windows disk. We need to know the operating system to help you

Windows xp boots but the desktop will not come up

Hi,
Log in using SAFE MODE. While laptop boots, press F8 and it will prompt for which mode to login. Select 'SAFE MODE'. Once logged in try to restore the OS to a previous good restore point.
If you've a backup of the registry key, it will help better. Just restore the registry from the backup instead of going for an old restore point.
Please come back and rate my solution if this turns to be helpful for you or also if you need more clarification. Thnx

Unable to load desktop ASUS 1005HA XP SP3

Hi

It seems you are stuck in a windows loading loop

Please do the following

1) Go into safe mode (swith the pc on and keep pressing F8 repeatedly until you have a menu presented to you, from the menu choose safe mode)

2) Once loaded click on Start>Programs>Accessories> System Tools> System restore

And restore your computer back to a point before the update was done

if it still loops when using safe mode through the method shown above then unfortunaltey you will have to reformat the PC

Please can i ask that you leave feedback and vote if this has been useful

Automatic updates just loaded windows xp home sp3. now system will not boot it just keeps cycling blue screen

Try to get into SAFE MODE by hitting F8 as it boots.

There may be a driver that is incompatible with SP3.

If you can get to SAFE MODE, try doing a system restore to a previous restore point.

I personally hate automatic updates that are out of my control.

Acer L100 comp wont start past the windows loading screen

Hi,

If I were you I would reformat your PC. In short words reformatting you Delete everything from the pc, the reinstall the OS(Operating System). Once the process is done, your PC is alot faster, and fresh. What happens to most people's PC it gets bogged down, and you go along time without cleaning it it will crash, just like a car.

There are hidden folders within the OS such as the prefetch where files are kept to help you boot problems faster, but the prefetch gets bigger each day, and isn't really needed.

To clean the prefetch you would go to Start>Run>type "prefetch" without quotes, once it opens the folder delete ALL files in it, a shortcut is to click any fil inside the prefetch, and press "ctrl+A" that will select all the files and now simply press Delete, and confirm Yes.

Something else to help maximize your system is to do a "disk clean up" access that by going to start>all programs>accessories>system tools

I hope this helped you maintain a better system in the future, if I were you I would go ahead and do the reformat then use the tips I just gave you to keep your system in shape.

Also another top make sure you keep your system clean of threats,(malware,spyware,adware,etc...) I would recommend Norton or Mcfee, I go with www.grisoft.com and www.eset.com, another one I like is www.trendmicro.com its up to you which you choose.

Good Luck!
