Hello,
of late i have been having problems with the start-up of my computer intermittently.it says " award bootblock bios v1.0, copyright(c) 2000,award software inc , bios rom checksum error ,keyboard error or no keyboard present, detecting ide atapi device , found cd-rom try to boot from it.... pass automatic load awdflash.exe " . wht could be the prob? could anyone list the probabilities and solutions? again, it doesn't happen all the time.
This is a common problem wirth asus motherboards the only thing is to re set the bios to do this romove the power plug from pc wait for 30 second - 1 minute for the static to be removed from board then find the bios battery and remove this then find the jumper that says clr cymos or bios then place the jumper on the opposite two then press on button then place jumper bace to orraginal possition then place the power cord back to tower psu then reboot pc then all will be fine replace battery in the holder enter bios then hunt for all relevent thing like first boot should be hdd then cdrom then floppy drive this is only if you have got one.
to set-up bios properly please e-mail me with your motherboard details and I'll e-mail you back with a list of things you should do to get the bios back to good working order.

UBCD4Win is a bootable CD which contains software that allows you to repair, restore, or diagnose almost any computer problem also has a bios reset tool which can remove your password and bios password ((note you will have change your first boot device to cd))
hope this helps

Hi all,
I have the same problem with Asus A8N-E mobo. The comp restarted, then a black screen appeared and i couldn't access bios either.
If i take out the bios battery and connect it again the comp starts.
But i can't do that anytime when I start the comp - probably in a week or 2 will die for good.
I've tried the solution proposed in this topic (clear cmos), but it didnt work for me :(
If anyone has a better idea, please share it with us.
Thanks
