My Panasonic plasma screen TV is stuck on mute? I saw MUTE show up in white letters on the top right corner, but I didn't press mute... now i can't get the sounds to come back on. I've restarted the tv, and the cable box, and tried turning up the volume.

Did you check the remote to make sure the mute button wasn't stuck partially depressed?

Yup! I just checked both remotes. Neither is stuck.

Yes. I guess I should have mentioned that I tried that as well.

You will probably have to go to the system setup from the menu and check the sound application.

  • Anonymous Jul 07, 2011

So I went into the settings and restored everything to default. Took about 20 minutes. STILL no sound. What the ****?

  • Francis Mestayer Jul 07, 2011

We have a DVR hooked up to our 1989-99 Mitsubishi TV (floor model) still in amazing working condition. The remote control for that TV never allowed us to put the TV on mute. If the mute botton was...

Well, without knowing the exact model of tv and remote, I can just give my best guess.
Try using the volume up/down on the TV and / or the remote.
On the TV, try pressing both the volume up and down at the same time.
Stick the remote right in the face of the TV (direct in front of the remote sensor) and hit the mute button.
Try tapping the mute button in very short single bursts rather than pressing it for a half second like you would any other button.
If any of those work, please come back and reply with the model of the TV and remote, because someone somewhere probably has the same issue and would love to have it solved!

Do you have a little symbol on the screen showing a speaker crossed out? If so you have pressed the 'mute' button. another press of the same button should un-mute it.

No sound

On your remote you should have a mute button. Or some will cancel mute when you press volume up or down. Make sure you are using the TV remote and not the cable or dish remote.
