I should have been clearer. This happened over a year ago and the warranty on it expired while at best buy the owner got so mad with best buy she threw the laptop in the closet not till I started asking her about it did I find the story out. They did offer to give her a refund for the second restore disk:(( But gave laptop back to her with no operating system and said We are sorry. You can call sony tech support for 29 something to talk to someone have done some emails but no luck yet. Have like 5 pages from the geek squad I would love to send to sony if I though it would do any good....

Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

How do I reformat my toshiba A215-S7444 to factory settings. I have lost the disk. please help

If you have lost the restore disc you may need to buy the Restore disc from the Toshiba website. Please visit the following link, enter your laptops serial number and check if a restore disc can be purchased online. If not, you have to take it to the Toshiba service center to get the system restored to factory settings

I lost my recovery disk or restore disk for my sony vaio VGN-FE660G. If anyone could direct me in the right direction to get them.

There are no System Recovery CDs included with the computer. The recovery data required to return the computer to the original, factory-installed condition is included on a special partition of the hard drive. Follow this procedure to create the Recovery Media Kit (a set of Recovery Discs), which can be used to restore the recovery partition and return the computer to the original, factory-installed condition.
  1. Ensure all open programs are closed.
  2. Ensure all network connections are disconnected.
  3. Ensure all peripheral devices are disconnected.
  4. From within the VAIO Recovery Wizard application, in the Create Recovery Discs window, click Next.
  5. Under Create Recovery Discs (Step 1 of 3), click to select the option to use either DVD or CD media.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. At the Insert a blank... dialog box, insert the appropriate disc.
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Insert a new disc when necessary as instructed.
  10. When all the disks have been created, click the Finish button.
