My Acer Aspire 5720Z apparently hasnt got any space left but htis is not the case, every time i delete something it does not calculate in the free space? Can you help?

The simplest solution is to run Disk Cleanup as follows....
1. click start then hi-light All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click on Disk Cleanup
2. wait while Disk Cleanup calculates how much space you will be able to free on ACER (C:)
3. in the Disk Cleanup for ACER (C:) under Files to delete:
4. click to set the check-boxes of the groups of files you wish to delete
5. at bottom of the list is the Total amount of disk space you gain
6. click OK button and on Disk Cleanup for ACER (C:) pop-up, click the Yes button
7. redo the preceding, clicking on the More Options tab to free more disk space from other areas.

If your recycle bin holds any unnecessory files deleted previously, clean it. A file deleted normally goes to the recycle bin and doesn't give you back the space it holds. Thus to free that space you need to clear the recycle bin.

If the above method is not helpful open my computer right click your C: drive and click properties. You will find a disk Clean up button near the usage pie chart graph click it. It will calculate space to be cleaned and a disk clean up window appears in the files to delete list box select your choices. At this stage if you don't need your previos restore points except for the last one, it would free more space. To do that click on the more options tab at the top of the form and at the bottom you will see system restore. Click the Clean up button and confirm your action. Wait a while the buttons might not be responive at most for a minute depending on your computer's speed. Now move your mouse over the Ok button if it is active click Ok. This will give you some space back.

Otherwise Back up your files to the D drive first. What you do is copy the files from where you stored them to the D drive first. When done copying Delete the files on the C drive using Shift Key + Delete. ( I prefer copying than moving the through the cut command, because if in case the operation aborts in the middle of the process of moving, you will find it very hard to keep yor folder organizations as they were.

i think your cd drive is malfunctioning..intall the driver..if this doesnt work..scan your pc for virus..if it still doesnt work you have no other option but to replace it...Hope this helps..ITTech7574

Have you emptied the recycle bin?

If you have a second user account on the computer log on with that account and then delete the user account for wich you forgot the password for. Sounds crazy I know but i have done it several times myself.

Unless I am mistaken, the D drive or partition is the partition that contains the restore feature for yor laptop. This may or may not be hidden system files. As far as the available free space on your C drive, you WILL need to either delete files and/or backup and delete files. Image files, music files, cookies temp files take up a lot of disk space. Try this and I think you will find more free space. BPCS
