How do I set a different ringtone for different callers

how can i set different ringtones for different contacts on motorola ex115?
do I have to install sometthing?

You can't change the messaging tone to a song from your music playlist, these options for choosing your own music as ringtones are restricted to an alarm tone, phone ringtone and caller ringtone (caller ringtone is when specific people calls you, a certain ringtone would appear for that caller to differentiate between callers)
However, you can change your message ringtone to certain ringtones for your Galaxy S phone by going through the following steps: (P.S I am assuming that you are using the stock Samsung SMS application)
1) Go to your stock Samsung SMS app (it's named as 'Messaging')
2) Press the softkey 'menu' button
3) Go to settings, scroll down and from there you can see the option 'select ringtone'

Go into mp3 ....options.................set as...............ringtone
or
(caller ringtone for a certain caller only)
or
( alarm tone setting etc for your phone).............DONE.

• GO TO THE PHONE SETTING
• CHECK FOR RINGTONE SETTING
• SET THE DEFAULT SETTING
• THEN CHOOSE THE RINGTONE U WISH
• PROBABLY THE PROBLEM IS DUE TO CHANGE IN DEFAULT SETTINGS

Under your settings...go to Audio and Ringtones. From there all your audio should be on the screen. Click on the song you want, select options, and then set as Ringtone ID. Select the person you want the ring for and your set. Good luck.

I had the same problem, then decided to see whether it would make a difference if I deleted that person's manual entry and instead stored the number and name,etc, from the recent received call lists. I set my parameters as I wanted, including the ringtone I wanted, and voila ! It works now ! So, store them from the logged call when the person has called you and it should work !

To set a ringtone for a caller their numbers have to be saved to your phone not your sim card. But sometimes certain ringtones won't work and i don't know why.

donwloaded ringtones
options
set as
caller ringtone
select the contact that you want this ring tone associated with

Are your contacts off the SIM? You cannot assign a ringtone to a SIM contact that is different than your general ringtone. If it is a SIM contact save it to your phone then you should be able to assign a distinct ringtone.
