Have you tried prepriming the coffee (dampens and gives better flavour). Also, you can make the machine push the old water out of the system when it first starts up...........see manual

Hi if there is Vapor coming from the grouphead when the lever is down then I would guess there is a problem with the seals around the piston and possibly elsewhere. Here is a link to a goos site that looks at repairing La Pavoni lever machines. Good luck.

Watery espresso (puck?)


As far as repairs, Sounds like the seal is wore out and is causing air leaks,

When I use the filter after a previous cup and it is still wet the coffee comes out very watery and undrinkable. When the filter is dry in the morning the coffee is perfect.


I'd suggest you try tamping with a bit more pressure, watery coffee is typically the result of water getting "around" the ground coffee as opposed to getting forced through it.

My tassimo coffee comes out watery


Make sure you push the lid down all the way before putting the clamp down on the front.

I've noticed that the back of the lid on my vivy (t12) can get stuck up (even with the clamp down) causing the water jet to not be inserted all the way - which produced very weak coffee.

try adding more coffee to the filter, or making the grind FINER or both

When I try to make an espresso shot, it runs out very fast and watery.


The coffee needs to be ground finer and tamped harder.

I grind my own coffee. I have never found any supplier that grinds their coffee fine enough.

The esspresso shots are watery


You need to adjust the grinder to finer and the amount of coffee grounds.

I have my Silvia for 3 years and for the last couple week, it gives me espresso watery with no crema. I havent changed anything for the last 3 years. Please help!


It definitely needs preventive maintenance once a year. There could be a couple of issues causing watery espresso. You could have a clogged shower screen or cracked porta-filter basket. They bypass valve from the pump could be leaking causing low pressure (check this by pulling a shot and seeing if water continually flows back into the tank via one of the water hoses).

Hi There are 2 problems that can cause a watery puck. 1. Like EsWorld said, If the grinds is too coarse it leaves room for more water and you get a watery puck. 2. But if your grind is like a grain of salt, the you don't have enough coffee going into the brew unit, and this leaves room for extra water. To fix this, there is a lever on the top center of the door. The lever will increase the dose if pushed towards the back. DON'T push the lever to the full back position. This could cause an over charge, which could cause the brew unit to dump the ground coffee with out making because it could not compress the charge, or it could break the brew drive. 1 click back from the full plus is fine and will give a great shot.

Shots too watery


1, Check the grind on the grinder. Imagine grounds as rocks and sand, if you are using rocks then the water will run too fast and with sand it will run too slow.
2, If using an automatic machine(water volumes are pre-measured), check to make sure that you are getting the correct volume(3ozs fro a 2ozs shot, and 4ozs for a 3ozs shot), an once of water stays in the coffee during extraction.
3, Adjust the tamp(packing pressure) of the coffee, fill the portafilter with coffee a little over the top, then level it out and tamp to the fill ring on the inside of the basket.
