Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I am having problems getting my Bernina Funlock 009DCC Cover and Chain machine to do a cover stitch. I don't have the manual to check to make sure it is threaded right but as far as following the machines steps, it looks right. Is there a manual online that I can access or is there another solution to the problem?

It could be that there is a loose piece of thread, or some fluff which is obstructing the tension gauge. Try blowing around the theading area (or even run the hoover pipe near it to see if you can **** it out). I cleared mine by folding a piece of non fluffy material and rubbing gently between the tension dial and machine.

Good luck

SOURCE: Error message saying " check cover/cart"

ok it can be a bunch of things,

1) check the cover that you open to change the cartridge is secure, press down on the top part near the latch that releases it and see if the door switch activated, if you hear the main motor activate then your problem is the locking latch.
2) Change cartridge and /or clean the 2 metal square contacts under the drum, move the drum cover and you can see the 2nd one, use methylated sririts or equivalent and a cloth. Your cartridge may be faulty/old or has leaked toner on the contacts.
If neither of these work you will have to have a visit from a technician as a circuit board may be at fault.

I have been given a Bernina funlock 007d and would like to be shown how to thread the machine, I live in Parklands Cape Town

Although not your model, the models do not change much. Just be sure to raise the presser foot when you thread the machine and thread each thread in the proper order (upper looper first, lower looper second with thread draped over the upper looper, then the needles).

Constant Thread break message on Bernina 200/730?

I assume you are getting an upper thread break message ? If so, be aware that you can turn this message off as a temporary 'work-around', but it probably wont get over the basic problem ... there is a sensor just behind the reversing button that senses when the thread is taken-up by the takeup arm on every stitch ... it is possible that there is fluff in the sensor itself, but it is necessary to take the case apart to get at it, so not a job for the amateur. More likely is that the plastic 'flag' that interrupts the sensor has become disconnected from the check spring - this is the spring at the bottom of the takeup arm cover through with the thread goes between the tension discs and the takeup arm. Again, if this has happened, its difficult (though not impossible) to reposition the sensor flag. If this happens, by the way, its also often accompanied by a slight reduction in the stitch quality - the tension becomes a bit variable, and there can be a pronounced 'tick' when the takeup arm is going upwards. I suggest you have it looked-at by a Bernina service agent, but if you're willing to remove the head cover and have a closer look, I'm happy to guide you through checking whether the sensor flag is still connected to the check spring.
