Question about Lexmark Wheelwriter 3 Typewriter

Problem with Lexmark wheelwriter 3

It turns on fine but after typing for several minutes the print wheel will spin wildly and type a random letter or figure on the paper. Sometime you can erase it and let it rest and it will type okay, others it will do the spinning thing over and over so you just have to shut it off and quit.

Remove the P/W and look for debris down in the slot it fits in, if you have some sorce of compressed air blow the printer out especially the P/W area. If this dosen't help you probably need a tech to relpace the sensor.

Lexmark Wheelwriter 1000 -Problem with wheel?

A few possibilities: The LED or sensor that looks at the primtwheel is getting weak, There may be debris on or under the PC board, the power supply is weak or rarely the flat white cable to the carrier is bad.
None of these are easy repairs, I'm sure we can repair it if you get it to us.

No, the printwheels are the same for all Wheelwriters. Make sure the letters face the roller when you put it in (pull the print hammer assy back and check for paper clips, ribbon pieces, etc. first).
