Won't Connect to the Internet

My computer will not connect to the internet. Battery is brand new. I notice that when I turn it on, only one of the three "green dot lights" in the upper-right corner goes on. Often only the orange "slash light" on the bottom of the computer is on; not green. Signal strength is good. The only thing I can get is a page which says "internet explorer cannot display the web page". PLEASE HELP ME BEFORE I GO INSANE!

CANT ABLE TO CONNECT DIAL UP CONNECTION

Turn on your computer. Click the Start menu, go to the Control Panel and access "Network and Internet Connections." Click the "Create a New Connection" option in the upper left corner of the window. Click "Next" until you reach a list of options. Select "Connect to the Internet," and click "Next" again. Select "Set Up My Connection Manually," and click "Next." Select "Connect Using a Dial-up Modem," and click "Next." Enter a name for the new connection you are creating (e.g. "Dial Up Connection"), and click "Next." Type in the phone number you will be using to connect to the Internet, and click "Next." This phone number will be provided to you by your ISP. Enter the username and password provided to you by your ISP. This will successfully configure your Internet connection. Plug a phone line into your computer's dial-up modem. You may now use the newly-created connection to connect to the Internet. b> Macintosh Computers Turn on your computer. Access the Apple menu and click "System Preferences." Click "View," and access the "Network" option. Click on the "Show" pop-up menu and find the "Internal Modem" option-or the "Configure" option if you are not running Mac OS X 10.5-and click it. Click the "Configure" menu if you are running a version other than Mac OS X 10.5. If you are running version 10.5, select the "PPP" tab. These options will both have the same result. Enter your information into the appropriate fields in the new window that appears. Your ISP username goes under the "Account" field, and password under the "Password" field. Save your preferences when you are finished. Plug your phone line into the modem jack on your computer. Your computer will now be able to connect to the Internet via dial-up.

Hp Compaq nx9010 Won't connect to Internet

install the latest service pack, i'm sure that's probably the issue, the early version of win xp didn't like to cooperate with wpa or wpa2. to check which service pack you're running (i assume xp because that's what came stock on those) click start and go to my computer and right click then go to properties, it will tell you which service pack you're running. the latest is service pack 3. honestly if i were you i'd just do ALL the updates as there are many security updates and patches you should have.

New download of windows 7 won't retain or create internet connectins

Ok, this is conflicting... won't retain or create!! Doesn't it have to be created to retain it?

Did it connect before you downloaded windows 7? Exactly what happens when you try to get on the internet? Do you have the wireless switch on the laptop turned on? Do you see your wireless router? If so did you put the password in correctly? If not, it will never connect.

My computer won't turn on i can get to the internet because it has an internet button but the main part of the computer won't turn on

Hello.

The most common reasons for power issues are the battery, power jack and power adapter/cord.

Power off and remove the battery. If the laptop powers on with just the adapter connected, your battery is faulty.

If you move/wiggle the power adapter at the point where it connects to the laptop, and the power goes off and on, the power jack is the problem.

The power jack is inside the laptop and either needs soldering or replacement. If a power jack problem, it should be addressed by someone knowledgeable.

If no change, the power adapter is probably faulty and needs replacement.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

If you're using the laptop wirelessly then i suggest that you remove power from the router and modem for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes plug power back in and wait another 2 minutes. Then try to reconnect to the internet.

If it still won't connect then the network drivers may have to be reinstalled. If this is the case then please post back.
