I live in Japan. I got a brand new range in june and it has had this problem from day one. The igniter glows but the gas never (or rarely) releases. Often it would preheat but not maintain the temp while baking. **augh** After reading MNTECH's solution I got a transformer and plugged my range into it to change the voltage (100 to 110) and I haven't had a problem since. THANK YOU MNTECH FOR POSTING THIS SOLUTION

Sure. If your oven would light sometimes, but usually not, or take a very long time to ignite, then replace the oven igniter. Even though it probably is glowing, it needs to draw a specific minimum electrical current (in amps) for the gas safety valve to open and release the gas. Also low voltage can affect how many amps the igniter draws, so that may be a factor, but not as often.

I have an early 70's Magic Chef series VI oven/stove. The stove works fine. The oven takes about 30 minutes to light. When oven knob is turned pilot works fine. There is no gas odor before the oven lights.

My model is a UA119A-2W and I cannot find a place to light the oven pilot. Nor can I find a copy of the owner's manual anywhere online. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The oven takes a long time to ignite. Sometimes

Hi, sounds like a weak igniter, you just need to replace it.

My magic chef kitchen range oven won't turn on, no gas

Some of the models require you to push in the oven thermostat knob to set the pilot if it blows out. So try pushing in the knob and hold it while lighting the pilot. When the pilot lights continue to hold the knob in for about a minute. When you let go of the knob the pilot should stay lit. If it does not stay lit then try it one more time. If it continues to go out the thermocouple or aso might be bad and will need service.

Magic chef gas range; oven takes about an hour or so to preheat.

most common issue, and it sounds like what your experiencing here, is a faulty ignitor, replace the bake ignitor ( located under teh oven floor, attached to the burner bar)

Fan in oven will not shut off, F-4

Hi jsachse,

The F4 fault code description is a shorted or open oven temperature sensor (RTD). Please check the sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.
